I've resigned myself to not expecting this team to become a legitimate contender under this regime.

Wow! That's a big leap. Would you mind expounding on why you think that is?

Duh, just look at his track record! Not trading for Pau Gasol? Franchise over!

I am interested to know why the Suns' sky is falling already. A 23 win increase in one season and somehow its all doom and gloom. It takes time and patience. I'm guessing youre put off by Len and Bledsoe, which is fine I guess, whatever.

This place has taken a massive shit lately, bleh.

Why not? I'd seriously like to try to understand why you feel that way.

I understand it's not happening in 2014-2015 but I don't understand how you already think this regime doesn't have the chops. Is it mostly the draft that you have issue with or free agency approach or both? I'd seriously like to try to understand where you're coming from. I really don't think McDonough and company believe the Morris twins are the answer for us long term at PF. I know your stance on Bledsoe but I can't imagine it all stems from that.

Did I say the sky is falling? It's not like I said the Suns would go 0-82 next season. The Suns should have another nice season next year. They may even make the playoffs.

You think you have to tell me that?! When have I ever said anything that indicates I want instant gratification or think a contender can be built over night?

I don’t think anyone is saying that these are your positions. I think the communication breakdown here is that you are not fully explaining the reasons behind your positions so people are a little confuse about why exactly you feel the way you do is all. Just saying it is not worth is a little bit of a cop-out on your part. We all are interested in your opinion and clearly value it, why else do think so many people were glad to see you back from your hiatus a while ago? There is a reason why people ask your opinion so much man, so don’t just leave us hanging! :)

I want to wait until the rest of the summer plays out to see what we have. Right now there are too many open fronts to know where we stand, although if nothing changes I can't say we are better than last year.

However, I am not appalled by the way things have gone so far. McD's track record is not flawless but there is a lot to like.

The roster has talent, depth, and youth; the franchise has cap flexibility and full understanding on the value of draft picks and good contracts. There is also a well defined system and a brilliant, respected coaching staff. Also a clear trust owner-GM-coach, and chemistry on the floor, with no knucklehead/cancerous players.

Personally, I believe the Suns were ready to fully tank last season but they found themselves winning and back on the map of the NBA.

They seem to have embraced it, I guess because those who are actually involved in the NBA business know how difficult it is just to be in the conversation, and seem to want to go with the momentum and adding the proverbial difference maker through free agency, which could be all that separates the Suns from contention, looking at the rest of the league and its mid term future.

Again, there are many things that need to be solved, but so far I can say that nobody is flawless and that I am happy with the direction and management of the franchise.

This +1

Well said!

I wanted to make a post very similar to yours because I am very happy with the current state of the franchise and I do trust the people in charge a lot. More than ever before to be honest.

I know we might have had one or maybe even two mediocre drafts but that does not mean shit in my opinion. And actually we do not know that for sure yet. I feel that the draft is such a crap shot that it is a lot like poker. You can make a lot of good decisions but might still end up losing because there is undeniably a lot of luck involved. However if your methodology, reasoning and feel for the game/business are fine you will come out ahead eventually. It just needs patience to succeed in the long run. And if we are talking about winning a championship that long run might end up being up to 5, 8 or even more years of patience and of course nobody likes that.

I just think people are generally too impatient these days. Everything happens in a few seconds and nobody wants to wait for anything anymore. I am sorry for the little rant but I think immediate success is not always the best metric to measure sound decision making.

I actually have a lot more faith in this FO than INF seems to have. I'm bummed that the Len pick seems like such a miss, but I like the general asset acquisition strategy that they have followed so far. I think the way the Bledsoe situation unfolds will affect my opinion, but, they've shown me enough so far to give me confidence that they will get some kind of return on him as an investment.

Sometimes seeing what assets your team does NOT acquire tells you a lot, too. I'm encouraged by the fact that we didn't overpay to retain Frye, that we seem to be holding a line and not overpaying (too much) for Bledsoe, and that we didn't just race out into the FA market and overpay for mediocre free agents like Chandler Parsons or Gordon Hayward. Even Bobby Sarver seems to be matured a little bit and seems more willing to trust his FO to make the basketball decisions.

I don't know if we can/will win a title with the current regime or any of the current players. But it's SOOOOO much better than the last group, and the early returns are pretty good so far. Let's not forget that we have one of the league's most promising coaches; that gives me hope, too.

I think it's more likely that INF is preparing a dissertation on his stance to lay on us. It's not like him to blow me off. :)
