Here’s a question for you guys - let’s say we use the trade exception to bring in a player and/or sign a buyout guy.
Who do you cut?
I think for me it’s D Lee then Yuta, even though we’d have to eat salary for next year on both guys.
I think it’s more likely we make a move like this after a 2 for 1 trade…but if we don’t I’d probably first try and see if anyone wants any of our vet min guys for a protected 2nd rd pick or just cash. If I absolutely had to cut someone it would probably be Yuta. I think Lee has some potential to be useful for us.
Call me crazy, but I feel Lee is a decent EG insurance policy, in terms of someone who will just launch 3s all day. If EG is hurt or is stinking it up, DLee is a guy that we can depend on to not be afraid to shoot those wide open 3s and make most of them too.

Ya he can shoot. We thought Yuta would at least shoot, but he hasn’t even done that.

How does Yuta go from sniper and serviceable player on the Nets to completely unplayable for us? Is it Vogel's defensive requirements? Is it the offense where he's not getting the right kind of shots? Were the Nets just so bad that he was able to get minutes and play thru the bad stretches?

I wonder if the Nets asked him to attack closeouts…maybe he’s thinking too much and just needs to shoot

I’m definitely shopping Yuta to see if anyone is willing to take a flyer on him for a 2nd round pick. Same with Eubanks, I know he’s playing better recently but I don’t really trust him. Hoping we can get an upgrade at the deadline or buyout market.

Let’s say we trade Little, Metu, Yuta, and 2 2nds for Royce. Then acquire Thad Young and Biz in the FA/buyout market.
Book/EG/Goodwin
Beal/Okogie/Lee
Allen/Royce/KBD
KD/Thad/Bol
Nurk/Eubanks/Biz
How would you guys feel? I can see targeting another wing instead of Biz. Would be great to use the TPE for that

I think Yuta is just having a fluke off year with his shooting. Because that’s his main thing, his other deficiencies really stand out. I’m actually okay if we end up keeping him another year because of the possibility it’s just be an off year shooting but I’m cool with moving on too.
I know once he’s gone he’ll start being a sniper again tho haha

You don’t think Royce does anything for us?

He's probably better than what we got but if he's another shooter teams can stay out on or run off the line then we're back to square one. Yuta got minutes on the Nets, Nas was getting minutes of the Blazers, KBD was getting minutes of the Spurs and we were all excited about adding them thinking we filled out the bench. Last year it was Terrence Ross and TJ Warren who were supposed to bolster the bench. Just feels like we're always grasping at straws, which is the position we've put ourselves in with the trades. Thad Young was cooked 2 years ago and we were pining away for him then. What's he got left now? Might as well bring back Torrey Craig and call it a day.

To be fair, Royce has a much longer track record than Yuta, KBD, or Little. Little and KBD were also on awful teams.
I agree Thad might be cooked, but these are the players that are available to a team with no assets…unless you want to bring in Miles Bridges, this feels like about as good as it gets.

Id rather bring in Bridges if they really wanna add talent and lengthen the roster, anything else is just treadmill moves.

Can't shoot to save his life but he can rebound and pass it a bit. He's the same height as Okogie so IDK what spot he takes, KDB?

At least KBD is starting to hit the corner 3.

Don't count on that being a long term consistent future.

The Suns have been "showing interest" in Tate for like 3 years now.

Ya him and KMJ have both been mentioned a few years now. Thad Young too for that matter.

By the end of last season Yuta had fallen out of Brooklyn's rotation.
And those arguing in favor of keeping Lee must not remember how he was unplayable for us in the playoffs as well. I don't have any confidence he'll be better coming off a major knee injury with zero ramp up. He is totally redundant on our roster.
