Game Day: Magic (8-6) @ Suns (9-5), Mon 11/18/24
Re: Game Day: Magic (8-6) @ Suns (9-5), Mon 11/18/24
Definitely some regression with Dunn and Royce. Dunn specifically has teams running him off the 3pt line.

I am trying to learn to watch and not be so caught up in the win or loss…it’s hard, especially in a game like yesterday…but I want to see growth and focus on the details. I knew this game would be a loss, the result really doesn’t matter all that much…we just need to find what works and be ready in the spring…of course we need some wins, but those will come when we are healthy
Re: Game Day: Magic (8-6) @ Suns (9-5), Mon 11/18/24
They tried to intentionally foul Morris there and no call
Re: Game Day: Magic (8-6) @ Suns (9-5), Mon 11/18/24
It's hard because we have high level roleplayers who need to play off of stars. Now we're asking guys like Tyus, Grayson and Royce to be 2nd and 3rd options. A few years ago we could see offensive growth from guys like DA, Mikal and CamJ, but we're not built that way now and haven't found or developed those players. Dunn is a 3-D wing and Oso is a complimentary big.

Well, they're both being forced into roles they're not accustomed to. We have a lot of guys trying to create offense who aren;t usually in that role.

Having a microwave scorer type would be helpful in games like this

Magic are big, young, and athletic, and they've basically been outmuscling us and waltzing to the basket all game. And they've hit their shots at a pretty good clip, to boot. They're a promising young team. We just don't have enough scoring with so many guys out. Suns keep sort of closing the gap, getting the lead down to 10-12 points or so, but then the Magic push us back. Right now we've closed it to 98-88 and the crowd is trying to urge them back into it.

I get the league allowing for more physicality but this is a foul and dangerous play. And what's more, if you say "well, they're allowing the more physical team to get away with that stuff", then they shouldn't blow the whistle on screens like they have been with us. This idiot watched this happen right in front of him.

The best player on either team tonight had 32/5/8.
Devin Booker scored a whopping 18.
Booker is not a top 15 player in this league. Way too easy to shut him down and get him to make stupid decisions.
We had enough talent on this team to beat a Magic roster without Banchero or WCJ. The problem is our supposed franchise player isn't good enough to be a franchise player.

Refs been calling soft shit all night. At the same time, we made so many low IQ plays. Mostly frustrated at the ref bullshit from yesterday now lol

Did you think he made bad decisions? They doubled him every touch…I really don’t know what you guys expect Booker to do. He didn’t have a good game, I won’t try to say otherwise, but being doubled every possession without another teammate who can create their own shot is a recipe for disaster. I’m impressed we had it within 10.specialsauce wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 9:29 pmThe best player on either team tonight had 32/5/8.

It's the same story every night. An opposing team has a player that can go off but the excuses pour in for why Booker can't do the same.
The Magic just surrounded Wagner with so much fucking talent that we couldn't shut him down.
Booker is the easiest "star" to shut down in the league.
Top players in no particular order more difficult to stop than Booker:
James
KD
AD
Irving
Luka
Brunson
Tatum
Embiid
Jokic
Curry
Giannis
Banchero
Ball
Edwards
Mitchell
Wagner
Morant

Devin Lavine Booker folks
Re: Game Day: Magic (8-6) @ Suns (9-5), Mon 11/18/24
I will say this team has some fight in it, which is much better than last year.
book is an unbelievable 1b option, but not 1a - especially on a team like he had out there tonight.

It was the 2nd night of a b2b against the best defense in the league and Book was missing 3 of 4 fellow starters, including the top 2 other creators.
And yes the Magic had more talent around Wagner than we had around Booker tonight.
I will agree that Booker can be taken out of games easier than a lot of stars when he doesn’t have help, but he’s a more dangerous weapon than 1/2 of those guys on your list when he does have help. I don’t think anyone has ever thought he was Luka, he’s not an on-ball star. His value comes from being able to play on and off ball. A lot of on ball stars are terrible off ball.
