Why is he playmaking at all? Why is the spacing allowing him to be doubled? How come 2-3 seasons ago he was off the ball giving us go-to offense in the midrange and in the low post? Why wasn't he getting doubled then?
Because he’s a great playmaker. He’s near career levels in assists and career lows in turnovers. As far as the spacing, I don’t think that has anything to do with the doubling…the biggest issue is no one is scared to leave our bigs.

He was off ball 2-3 seasons ago because we had Chris Paul. Tyus is great, but he does not have the shot creation ability of CP3 of 2-3 years ago. And Booker has always been doubled, he’s always one of the highest doubled players in pnr. It’s definitely not his strong suit though.
With your medical expertise, split, can we put Chris Paul in a hyperbaric chamber, if not a hyperbolic time chamber, and then trade for him again?

I’d rather do that for Nash if we’re thinking sci-fi takes lol. We’d take a hit on Def but the speed of this team would be insane.

Might as well bring back Amare to solve our frontcourt problems too. But then everyone would bag in him for not averaging double figures in rebounds like they used to.

He's not a great playmaker and the stats don't tell the whole story. We've seen PointBook and it can get ugly. If he were a great playmaker how the come the issue last year was not having a PG? And while he may have been doubled, it wasn't at the 3pt line getting trapped unless it was late game situations where he was holding the ball. He might've gotten doubled at the elbow/FT line extended where he could rise up for his midrange shot and made it. And Book played plenty with Payne, who wasn't CP, and never saw this kind of doubling because it was still a better system for him with better spacing. He also played with McGee and Biyombo who were only threats rolling to the basket. You can't watch that youtube mix and then watch games from this season and last season and say the spacing is the same.

Biyombo and McGee were both high level vertical spacers…and Booker has been doubled at the 3 point line his whole career. Sure it’s heightened in recent years, but it’s always happened.

What do you think is wrong with the spacing? I’ll also add that we did have Ayton…I didn’t love Ayton, but he was a scoring threat near the rim. None of our 5s pressure the defense.

Problem 1: Bigs that don’t provide spacing(at the rim or the 3 point line).

Problem 2: No dribble drive ability. Teams can double and not have to worry about recovering quickly because our secondary guys won’t get to the rim anyways. Beal has been disappointing in this regard to me.

Assuming we can’t move the big 3, I think we are probably still 3 pieces short.

1. A big that provides spacing
2. A true backup for KD(wing with size/shooting)
3. Dynamic shot creator off the bench.

It seemed the right move at the time, but maybe we should have given Monty a chance to work with the trio.

Some good insight from Allen on different arenas, lighting and rim positions

At first I thought this was a joke. Duh, rims are not square, they're round. But then I actually watched it to understand what he was saying.

Insert legendary Kobe story told by Gerald Henderson about how the rim in CHA was 0.5 inches lower or something like that.

Often times I notice that one side of the court is “hotter” than the other. So if we’re making all our 3’s and the opponent is cold, then it’ll switch in the second half.

No way the Suns trade Tyus Jones, Royce, or Mason. I wish we were using Monte Morris more but I doubt we move him, too; especially since we can't combine players in deals, so we couldn't for example include Morris to sweeten a Beal / Butler swap. Bol Bol and Damion Lee have been abject failures for us this year but their no-trade clauses essentially nix any chance of moving either of them. I guess there's an outside chance that Bol would ask to be traded but he seemed really happy here a few months ago.

How did Bol Bol and Lee get veto rights on any trade?
