Barkley would have been suspended half the seasons pulling the stuff he did back in the day in today’s league. The leagues so soft now.

Yuck.
I read OKC has 75 1st round picks over the next 2 years, so these guys could give OKC 13-20 1st rounders and be just a drop in the bucket for them. Smh

When was the last time Jake Fischer got anything right? Cam on OKC would be hilarious though, just never ending waves of wings.
Love, Hurts.

Good for him. Speak your truth dude. Refs in all sports are too protected. Let them be interviewed after each game like players and coaches are. Have them explain themselves for what they call or don't call. Can't allow such a critical part of the sport not have accountability in front of the public.
Re: Around the NBA: Week 9 (12/16 - 12/22)
I don't think the NBA refs do a perfect job, but imo the league holds them accountable more than most sports. They let you challenge bad calls and let the refs review plays that they weren't sure about during the game. And they do those game reports and last 2 minute reports after the game to own up when the refs get it wrong (or confirm if they get it right). Most leagues don't do any of this stuff. I just think officiating basketball in real-time is really hard. I think the worst reffing mishaps come when the officials have all been clearly given some new "point of emphasis" and then they start waaaaay over-calling whatever that is. Usually that fades away during the course of one season.
Re: Around the NBA: Week 9 (12/16 - 12/22)
I have to agree with Edwards that there is a lot of inconsistency in the way NBA games are called. Giannis gets special treatment for being "stronger than everybody else." Doncic is another one that gets all the calls for whatever reason.
Also, don't just make assumptions on calls. That foul call on Dunn's all ball block last night was ridiculous. We shouldn't have to use our challenges so frequently on obviously bad calls.

Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

You should never have to use up a challenge if the call is wrong. Let teams challenge as many as they want until they get one wrong.
1st quarter challenges would still be very rare; if you lose that means no more challenges for the rest of the game no matter how obviously wrong the calls are, so you won’t risk it unless you’re really sure. The later in the game it is, the less conservative you have to be.

We keep putting the blame on the refs and the players. But it’s really Adam Silver that needs to take accountability. You can’t be partners with all the gambling sites. It’s a huge conflict of interest. Why viewership is down but income is still high.

I don’t…I don’t want more challenges. Keep the game going
Re: Around the NBA: Week 9 (12/16 - 12/22)
There still won’t be a lot of challenges unless the refs are blowing a lot of calls and all the challenges are getting upheld. In which case, take the time and get it right, don’t let the game be dictated by the chaos of a lot of bad calls.

Of course, the day will come when the coaches have AIs that can analyze calls in real time with such rapidity and accuracy that every bad call will be challenged and overturned, which will slow the game down until the league decides to let its own AI check the refs instead of making the refs review everything frame by frame on video.
