Well, we don't know the details for sure. I don't think he alone made all those decisions. Especially Paul for Beal and the team make up via free agency and trades. I give him the most blame for way overpaying for KD but we knew Jones had been working on it for months before Ishbia bought the team. I'm pretty sure the ops people wanted KD, Beal, and the free agents and trades we made. I think there is the assumption that we know more than we really do. Yes, to all of that. I know I thought it was too much at the time. Regarding Beal, I think most of us liked it but we didn't think through the redundancy and NTC. Ultimately, if you're the one responsible like Jones is, you have to make your feelings known if your owner is overruling one of your decisions. Which may have happened here, we don't know for certain.
I think in hingsight the Durant deal will be (or is already) seen as giving up too much to make an immediate splash, and that the Beal trade just shouldn't have been done at all.
