The fact people are arguing the Suns should trade Devin Booker, their all-time leading scorer who's in the prime of his career, illustrates how bleak their short- and long-term outlook both are.
A part of me is glad Ishbia's pocket is taking a hit on this. It's the only kind of accountability that counts for an owner. But on the other hand, it really puts the org in a bad light. Execs, coaches, players all talk and we have a bad rep now after having such a good one under Jones/Monty. We just look bad, everyone knows a retooling/rebuild is coming. I don't think a coach like Mike Malone (for example) would turn down a big money contract if offered but we may not be at the top of anyone's list. And we may be best suited going with a reputable, proven assistant as a first time head coach because they'll want the opportunity and might be more accepting of a cheaper 3 year deal.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind a young and hungry coach. Assuming he's willing to lean into his players and tell them what they need to hear. I think Book would listen unlike KD. I don't think Bud held his players accountable. At least from the effort I was seeing for the majority of the season.

ESPN's Tim MacMahon reported on SportsCenter on Sunday morning that the "widespread anticipation throughout the league" is that Phoenix intends to let Mike Budenholzer go.
That is just an opinion or feeling, not definitive. I'm not saying it won't happen but I could have reported the same thing.
Mr. Dutton, Bud has been bad, but he doesn't deserve a trip to the Train Station.
Oh it's definitely not all his fault, the players are lazy, the roster sucks, he's been dealt a shit hand, I think he's a good coach but he's not here next year.
JJ was a patient and thoughtful GM; he didn't chase after short-term gratification and stupid ass trades
"Jalen Smith is better than JaVale McGee."

I thought you would like Jones. He has been mostly a savvy drafter, picking several interesting and talented players in the mid-to-late 1st round, and generally valuing and utilizing the draft to improve our team. He has some huge whiffs, like Smith over Haliburton, but any GM who has held the post more than a few years will have some whoppers like that.
Anyway, regardless of whether we agree on that, who would you prefer to see as Suns GM? Bob Myers? Who do you like?
Now I'm wondering if maybe we should have kept Nurkic since it seemed a lot of the problem was issues between the two of them.
His numbers improved in Charlotte, back to where he was last year.
Makes you wonder.

They're paying Gentry, Vogel, and Budenholzer. That's three head coaches they have to pay that are no longer with the team. Ishbia has to make the right decision and get the right coach to do the job.

Ayton over Doncic?
Yea... That was a tough one but it's hard to not look back and see our infatuation with finally get a franchise big man(child) and where our depth chart was with the roster. It just made sense at the time.

Sorry... I was just stating in regards to the pick, regardless of the GM, it's who the majority thought was the best pick for the team.

I mean, our board was 50/50. It was up to the Suns to do the background checks and to discover that Ayton was all about that next contract while Doncic was a stone cold killer. So, I still put it on the Suns.
