Royal Ivey would also be great
Having a guy named Royal sounds pretty cool and it doesn't sound like we'd have to pay a king's ransom for him either in spite of the name.

If we go with Mike Brown or Fizdale....just no.
But I thought you loved Fizdale? Huh.

Who?
Cavs lead assistant. He coached with Utah as well for a bit.

I made a post about it in another thread. He is well liked by players throughout the league, he’s a favorite of Donovan Mitchell. Credited with helping shape the Cavs offense this year.

Johnnie Bryant is another guy to keep an eye on. I think i remember Gambo saying his name awhile back too. Could be wrong.

He was Donovan Mitchell favorite assistant in Utah, when to to Knicks with Thibs and now currently less assistant with the Cavs now.

I want a coach (and coaching staff) that will emphasize defense, effort, and accountability. I don't care if the coach has title or deep playoff experience or is a "name." Just get me somebody who will have the guys prepared, working hard, and knowing where to be on defense.

All this! The last two years were disasters. This one twice as disastrous as the year before. A decent offense that fits our personnel would also be nice. I'd love to get back to Phoenix Suns basketball. Move the ball, screens, cuts, backdoors, fastbreaks. Fun, winning basketball and can play half court just as well. The ball finds energy! :D

"Sweet" Lou Dunbar...gotta love the name...
Tim Federowicz... different sport, different level...but the history!
Lou Brown...he's fictional, so maybe we'd save money? And diff sport again...
Bryce Drew...give s REAL local a chance ..or Lester Neal in that vein...he'd be cheap...
Harry Savaya...purportedly a great motivator...

First name on Haynes’ list is Mike Brown (others include Willie Green, Jared Dudley, David Fizdale, and Kevin Young):

For those who didn’t watch the video, I didn’t list every name included on his list. The others were: Chris Quinn, Johnnie Bryant, Sean Sweeney, and Royal Ivey.

BYU's Kevin Young a frontrunner for Phoenix Suns open coaching spot
With the NBA in a shuffle, is BYU basketball in danger of losing its most valuable asset?

He's a family member of the Brigham Young family itself, I don't think he's leaving now.

That’s a misleading headline…I just read it and there’s nothing in the article that says the suns are interested in Young. Just making assumptions.

So, with this instant success adding to his overstuffed resume, it's no surprise the Suns have been in contact with their old buddy in the hopes of rekindling what was once a fruitful relationship.

Sure…but he talks about it like it’s common knowledge or something. It doesn’t come across as a report. What’s the source? And being in contact is very different than being the front runner

It wouldn’t surprise me, though. Weren’t there reports that Booker wanted Young in 2023? Seemed like Booker and Durant never even gave Vogel a chance because he wasn’t the hire they wanted.
