Right. He put together the Lakers offer himself and went to the team with it, so he could stay close enough to the area because of his kids. That's why he never considered NY. None of that was his first choice; His first choice was to stay right here and keep playing. We literally ignored him until he went away on his own.da_suns_fan wrote:That not exactly right. He said it he was "old school" and it would be weird to suit up for the Lakers.Indy wrote:I don't think it happened that way, P219. I remember him saying that he would never play for the Lakers, because it wouldn't be right, and then 2 weeks later he was asking to be traded there.
He absolutely wanted to come back but he received no offer from Phoenix who was ready to move on.

Re: Steve Nash out for season
My guess is as good as any on this, but I would venture that Nash knew that he was not being considered since the exit interviews. Something along the lines of either resign for the minimum or something close to it, or go get a new team. He choose the later.
He was going trough their custody issues and wanted a last good contract, wich the FO was not willing to concede, and in the end, everybody got some bizarro version of what they wanted. Steve got a golden parachute for his previsibly health-troubled final years, and the FO got to kick-start the post-Nash era. Some compromise on both sides, and who knows, the Sun, the Moon and the Stars would have shined for a couple more years, health provided.

That Nash-Kidd duel was epic. Almost went to that game.

I have no hope for the lakers draft pick for this year, they are just way too shitty. I thought at the begging of the year it was almost a sure thing but after watching them play I really doubt it. Anyone know what is the protection on their pick next year?
Re: Steve Nash out for season
Top 5 this year. Top 3 in '16 and '17. Unprotected in '18.

i always felt '12 nash made a lot of sense for the thunder, not so much for the lakers. ah well.Nodack wrote:I think he likes soccer more than basketball. He always seemed into the video production thing.
It was time to rebuild the Suns and Nash left at the right time. The fact that his injuries kind of screwed over the Lakers is only a plus for me. It would suck for him to be totally healthy and to watch him lead the Lakers to victories over the Suns over and over. Watching the Lakers go nowhere with Nash sitting on the sidelines last year while our new team filled with young guys just missed the playoffs made it a great year for me.
Re: Steve Nash out for season
I'd actually like to see him on Dallas. They have a bunch of guards there and Barea is supposedly getting bought out to return there, and they already have Ellis, Nelson (who's playing well enough to maybe start), along with Mekel who I like and Felton (who's useless). But Nash, Nelson, Ellis and then Parsons who can run some point with Dirk and Chandler. Nash would just have to pass and wait to shoot or pick and pop with Dirk/pick and roll with Chandler.

Not sure if this was posted someplace else, but reposting it here is a fitting note, to celebrate the guy.
