Re: All Things Ayton

You must be watching last season's games with Nurkic or something.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 4:30 pmNobody is talking about it because it's not true and that's obvious when watching the games, and "getting into foul trouble" is due to playing bad defense.JeremyG wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 4:15 pmFunny how nobody is talking about his great defense, high level of defensive intensity, and career high in rebounding in 24.7 MPG. (You know, all of the things we were hoping to get from him this season if he remained on the Suns.)Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 9:27 pmThe way his performance is trending, even the people who were upset with the perceived low trade return will also be proven wrong.
He got in foul trouble a lot early on last season as well trying to get the officials to adjust to him, and then he had to adjust eventually.
Ayton rebounds = BSFlagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 4:30 pmI'm also tired of this rebounding BS. He's the tallest guy on the court, so he better damn well get the most rebounds. Yet you're over here making him out to be some relentless rebounder chasing down everything off of the rim. It's absurd.
Only 10 points but huge rebounding game with 23. 0-0 FTs again which is just crazy though. 1-1 after 4 games. Congrats to him though on the Blazers first win.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 6:40 pmAyton has been a poor defender in all three games this season. I've watched nearly every minute he's played. Pointing it out isn't being a hater, it's just understanding good basketball.
He's played well against Toronto tonight, so we're right at the peak of the Ayton rollercoaster at the moment.
Agree…. 23 boards isn’t anything to sneeze at. Credit where credit is due.Superbone wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 7:13 pmOnly 10 points but huge rebounding game with 23. 0-0 FTs again which is just crazy though. 1-1 after 4 games. I’m with you..I really don’t care anymore whether he does good or not. He’s not on the suns. I never hated him…seems like a good guy. Just didn’t trust him as a basketball player and am glad we moved on. Someday we will all move on as fans as well.carey wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 5:33 pmI honestly can't believe we're still talking about him. I've completely moved on in my brain and I never even think about him unless you guys bring him up on the board. He's no longer our problem. We also don't need to rejoice in his failures, that's pretty low and I expect better from all but maybe a couple of you.![]()
It wasn't a comparison of the players. It was a comparison of the biased narrative.
Yeah, that's exactly what we said. (Looks a couple posts above and sees two positive comments about Ayton's rebounding.)JeremyG wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 9:34 amIt wasn't a comparison of the players. It was a comparison of the biased narrative.
Duren gets 15 rebounds: "Oh look at Duren's rebounds, they are so beautiful, important, and extraordinary! There is nothing more valuable than dominating the boards!"
Ayton gets 15 rebounds: "Ewww look at Ayton's rebounds, they are so gross, ugly, and unnecessary! What could possibly be more useless than rebounding?!"
The post(s) I was responding to were from before last night. I guess 23 rebounds is harder to discount.Superbone wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 9:57 amYeah, that's exactly what we said. Yeah, the 23 boards is more than he ever had with the Suns.JeremyG wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 10:03 amThe post(s) I was responding to were from before last night. So far, despite averaging a career low (by far) in minutes, he's averaging a career high in steals, a career high in "stocks," and a career high (by far) in rebounds (2nd in the NBA, just behind Sabonis).Superbone wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 10:08 amYeah, the 23 boards is more than he ever had with the Suns.JeremyG wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 10:03 amThe post(s) I was responding to were from before last night. Foul trouble the first 2 games. Foul trouble + blowout the third game, with Grant and Ayton sitting the entire fourth quarter before their back-to-back game. Last night was his first game where he played more than 30 minutes.
