2018 Trade Deadline

Re: 2018 Trade Deadline
That makes sense if you don't think the other top guys are stars. I fail to see a huge difference in overall impact between a guy like Ayton and JJJ. Ayton may be more versatile offensively but Jackson is easily the superior defender right now. There are some draft guys calling him the best defensive prospect since AD.specialsauce wrote:If we don’t come away from this draft with Ayton, Bagley, Doncic, I will be very disappointed. Yes I would absolutely trade anybody on this team not named Booker or Jackson to move up to grab them. You win in this league with superstars. They are the 3 with the highest ceilings and floors.
Bagley is probably the safest player in the draft. Guy looks like a 20/10 guy for the next 12 years, but he creates an awkward fit defensively. He'll rebound, but we'd need Bender or Chriss to develop into reliable rim protectors next to him, or find one elsewhere.
Doncic is pretty special. It's hard to see him failing offensively, but his ceiling may be capped by his inability to beat NBA defenders off the dribble. And I don't think he'll ever be an above average defender.
Re: 2018 Trade Deadline
Bender isn't getting you in the top 3 unless it's attached to the unprotected Miami pick or one of our own future picks with minimal / no protection on it. He just isn't that good yet.

Re: 2018 Trade Deadline
If Porter's back is OK. He is as much a potential superstar as those three. The kid runs the break like Magic. Shoots like KD. Blocks shots like Ibaka. And oozes confidence and court presence like Booker.specialsauce wrote:If we don’t come away from this draft with Ayton, Bagley, Doncic, I will be very disappointed. If they don’t come away with one of those, and they don’t trade for a star or trade one of their young role players to have the ability to draft a star, they are not serious about building a winner. A fatal flaw as said before has been getting too attached to mediocre prospects just because they are ours. If bender or Chriss were on any other team we wouldn’t give them a second of our attention.
Re: 2018 Trade Deadline
I don't think we should get rid of every single veteran. I'd keep at least one. Dudley in this case. Doesn't mean he has to play a ton.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:Word. Let's get rid of all of: Chandler, Dudley, Chriss. Probably Ulis, too :'(.
I still believe in Bender and want him to stay here. I don't want to package him in any trade to move up for some pick.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

If the Miami pick ends up at 15 and we can somehow combine Bender + that pick for say the 7th pick in the draft and we pick up Young, Bridges or Bamba, I’d be all for it.carey wrote:Bender isn't getting you in the top 3 unless it's attached to the unprotected Miami pick or one of our own future picks with minimal / no protection on it. Or if our own pick somehow ends up 5th-6th, and we can combine it with Bender and a second rounder to get the first pick, I’d be all over that.

Re: 2018 Trade Deadline
Any trade moving up in this draft would definitely include future Suns picks, probably without protections or only very slight ones. But I would be OK doing that. Our timeline is now.carey wrote:Bender isn't getting you in the top 3 unless it's attached to the unprotected Miami pick or one of our own future picks with minimal / no protection on it. True. I don’t think Carter, Bridges, Bamba, Sexton are close to the same tier as Ayton, Doncic, Bagley. I think you’re looking at superstar vs role player. JJJ I’m on the fence about.Split T wrote:That makes sense if you don't think the other top guys are stars. I fail to see a huge difference in overall impact between a guy like Ayton and JJJ. I'm excited about that. It finally time to turn this thing around. Let's get a game changing player in the draft and then a couple of top notch FAs and start heading into our playoff ascension.JCSunsfan wrote:Any trade moving up in this draft would definitely include future Suns picks, probably without protections or only very slight ones. I agree about most of those players. I know Porter is a no go for you because of his back, but I haven't ruled him out yet. I've cooled a bit on Trae, but he has some star potential, offensively. JJJ is firmly in my top 4. But I agree about bridges, bamba, and Sexton.specialsauce wrote:True. I don’t think Carter, Bridges, Bamba, Sexton are close to the same tier as Ayton, Doncic, Bagley. Carter is an interesting guy to me. He's the guy I'd target if we don't land a top 6 pick. He's probably not a superstar, but I think he's being overlooked because he's playing next to Bagley. He's shooting 45+% from 3. He rebounds, he provides rim protection, and he's a good passer. He may never score 20 points a game, but he'll fill up the stat sheet. Wouldn't be surprised to see him be a 16/11/4 guy with 2 blocks and a steal on efficient shooting.

Re: 2018 Trade Deadline
i'd trade anyone but Booker plus the next year's (top 5 protected) pick if it resulted in Trae Young. and if we come out of the draft without him, i'm disappointing.
no one has impacted this league this decade more than Curry with his kind of skill set. it's been a long time since a man in the middle has been as impactful. the big boys are more injury prone and they have to have help to do their thing.
Booker + Young + a top free agent + defensive role players and we're on the Warrior war path

I would really like to see Ayton in a Suns uni come October this year. Dude looks like he'll be the next dominant big man in the league.specialsauce wrote:If we don’t come away from this draft with Ayton, Bagley, Doncic, I will be very disappointed. I don't think Young is going to be a Curry level player. I like him, he'll be a great fit next to Booker offensively, but there are players I like more.
I think Orlando takes him.

I just don’t see a scenario where Sarver gets the #1 pick and DOESNT force McD to take Ayton even if Doncic ends up impressing more in workouts. I think the UofA pull will be too strong.iLLmatic wrote:I would really like to see Ayton in a Suns uni come October this year. Id be fine with Carter with our second pick. Our first pick needs to be a superstar and then we can fill a hole with the second.Split T wrote:I agree about most of those players. Re: 2018 Trade Deadline
Wow, I don't see anything to suggest that any of that is even remotely close to accurate. He moves well, has decent athleticism, and has range on his jumper. I think that's about all that is established about him.JCSunsfan wrote: If Porter's back is OK. He is as much a potential superstar as those three. The kid runs the break like Magic. Shoots like KD. Re: 2018 Trade Deadline
I think you're getting carried away here. First, the Warriors are a phenomenal team; Steph Currym isn't a Michael Jordan or Tim Duncan talent in that you put him on a team and the team is an instant contender. Secondly, I'm not sure how Steph Curry has impacted the league more than LeBron James.1tinsoldier wrote:i'd trade anyone but Booker plus the next year's (top 5 protected) pick if it resulted in Trae Young. and if we come out of the draft without him, i'm disappointing.

I think anyone targeting Trae Young under the influence of a Steph Curry Euphoria is setting themselves up for failure.

Wow, talk about putting all your eggs in one basket... Most here would prefer one of the bigs.
