Another random draft thought: I would draft Jarrett Culver over RJ Barrett.
Low on RJ or just high on Culver?
A little of both.

I like RJ's passing and rebounding. But he can't shoot, and he doesn't elevate in the paint off of his dribble drives; he's a flat-footed finisher, and I don't think that is going to translate to the pro level.

Can you play him with Booker?
Most definitely. I think RJ is a 3 that will eventually play some 4.

I just don't believe that the Duns will win with a rookie pg starting.
Then draft Morant and sign Darren Collison. Done. We don't have to do something stupid like dumping draft picks just to avoid starting a rookie at point guard.

Agreed, but depends on value.

If we can get a legitimate, veteran starting 4, I'd be OK with Tyler Johnson staying as the starting PG next season until Morant is ready to take over the role.

When you say legit verteran starting 4, are you thinking of someone in the mold of a tenacious rebouder and clogs the paint, or a stretch 4? And who fits what you are thinking that is available?

At $19M he’s not likely to be going anywhere, so we don’t have much choice about being OK with him staying.

Yes but hasn't there been talk of stretching him and finding a different starting PG (and PF)?

I don’t think we’re stretching him, but he’d be a necessary salary if we trade for someone with a contract in the 20-25 and up range.

I was just looking at salaries, and saw Warren's contract goes down next year, then back up the last two. Did he miss a minimum games played clause or something that caused it to go down? I didn't remember any year being below 11M when he signed is 4/50 contract. His 4/50 is now a 4/47...

According to HoopsHype, it's 50 million only if he earns the bonuses, with up to $13.44 million the final year: https://hoopshype.com/player/tj-warren/salary/

It always had the drop in year 2...I’d guess to give us a few more dollars for a free agent run as this year was supposed to be our big splash in free agency.

Thanks for all the good info about Morant. The main thing I'd want to know is that he is not as ball-hoggish as Westbrook, that he'd pass the ball. It's great if he can attack the basket, and that skill would help us a lot. But I also need him to run the offense and set guys up. I don't mind if he has high TOs if he is trying to pass and find other guys.

He leads the ncaa in assists...so he’s a willing passer, Westbrook also gets tons of assists though

When you don't get to see Zion play for awhile, you kind of forget how amazing he is.

13 for 13 from the field (2 of 9 FT, oof), 15 rebounds and 5 steals. Decent game.
