Portland has fallen into the play-in
I think they've been a little bit of a mirage all year long. They spent a bunch of time hovering around 10 games above .500, despite having a slight negative point differential most of the year. Most of the time, that kind of thing ultimately isn't sustainable, and they've come back to earth despite getting more of their team back on the floor.

McCollum has looked fine post-injury. Nurkic seems like a shell of his former self.
I know people are worried about Lillard, but I’m starting to think they’d be the most ideal first round matchup. Been a paper Tiger all year...and you’re right, the paper is starting to show.
Rematch of 2010! :P

I'm barely finding time to catch all of our games and hardly checking other box scores. Now going through my timeline, saw they beat Nuggets and silly stats here

As the Westbrook triple double debate rages on.....
He seems to be on quite the stretch. Not just the numbers but efficient and wins is an interesting development

I know they were extremely cautious and took forever to make sure JJJ was right but I still had my doubts about how many minutes he will get and his effectiveness when he returned
First two games been really good....

I haven't spoke up on him but he seems legit to me. Unless he really does have performance anxiety and craters in the playoffs. This year will be his to show the world what he's made of.

Unfortunate but I don't think the 10 teams for the West were going to change anyways. Pels and Kings too far

Oh, that's really sad for the Warriors and Wiseman. This has been a rough season for them despite various heroics from Curry.
It's like they are being punished for winning multiple championships. I hate seeing that happen to Wiseman when he has so much potential. Add that to the list with Klay's injuries, Oubre forgetting how to play basketball the first 1/3 of the season, and Draymond being a shell of himself, it has been a rough few years for that organization.

What do you guys think about Luka and Cuban's complaints regarding the play in tournament?
They're being babies. I think there is enough protection for the 7/8 seeds in that they have to lose twice to be eliminated. If you can't come up with one win, I think you don't deserve it.

And yeah, it makes games matter more. That isn't a bad thing. It increases incentive to compete for the 6th seed. It reduces the amount of games you can take off without regard to winning/losing. Those are all good things. I know they don't fit the load management/last quarter of the season doesn't matter paradigm, but that is the point.

There are some quirks about the way it's set up that are eventually going to produce some odd results, though.

For instance, the 7th and 8th place teams play one "play-in" game; the winner of that game is automatically determined to be the 7th seed when the playoffs begin. While it probably won't happen this year, eventually we'll have a situation where there'll be a 7 seed that's like 51-31 and an 8 seed at like 42-40, and because of the weirdness that can ensue in any one given game, the much better regular-season team will end up as the lower seed beginning the playoffs.

I don't hate the concept, but they may need to tweak it to prevent some of the more obvious absurdities.
How often is that going to happen though? And honestly, how much does it matter when 9/10 times the 7th/8th seeds don't advance past the first round?

Just let the 1 seed pick their opponent and you avoid that altogether.

Hitting 16 of 31 shots is not a bad thing. It's not like he went 10 for 31... I don't get the dismissal of what Dort accomplished. I'm also a little upset that this guy was literally playing in our backyard and went undrafted and we weren't the team to have given him a chance.
I don't know. I'm just not impressed by it these days, but maybe my familiarity with Dort has something to do with it.

Think about it this way. How many Suns players wouldn't score 40 points if they took 30 shots in a game? I honestly don't think it's that difficult for a large portion of the league.
He shot over 50%. The answer to your question: 2 - Booker and Paul. No other Sun can get off that many shots and the shots actually be quality looks that they can convert at a decent percentage.

I said over and over that we should target Julius Randle at power forward. Now look at him. He's frickin' all-NBA.

Me too. I keep thinking about it. Imagine if we had Randle at PF with the same rest of the lineup.

Denver is now having to overcome the loss of Will Barton and Monte Morris, on top of losing Murray for the season.

They won tonight against Houston. Michael Porter had 39 and PJ Dozier had 23 on 10-13 FGs. I am really interested in seeing if Dozier can use this opportunity to break out.
