Damn. Anybody hear the interview?
Yeah, I listened to it and it seems like he wasn't used to doing interviews or something.

I listened to the interview and it wasn't nearly as bad as it was made out to be. He seems like a laid back guy who gave pretty straight forward vanilla answers while Burns and Gambo came off like a couple of caffeine-fueled 100mph zookeeper radio guys. I was more embarrassed by Burns and Gambo than Bazley tbh.

I don't much care whether Bazley is eloquent on the mic so long as he plays great defense for us. I am hopeful in that regard. The clips of him defending jumpshooters are pretty nasty.

KD didn't want to be traded anywhere else, he would've sat out the rest of the season and forced a trade in the offseason if this deal didn't get done.
Would he?
I believe he would. Mega Superstars like KD aren't risking themselves for shit teams they don't want to play for. He wasn't going to kill himself dragging Dinwiddie, Simmons, DFS and Claxton to a 2nd round exit and he wasn't going to wait out a rebuild. That's how these stars are now, and especially ones near the end of their careers who just want to win and see their legacies thru.
That doesn't seem to track with the interview Durant did with Chris Haynes at the beginning of the season:
"All that extra s--t like, ‘You got to win before you retire and make sure your legacy is straight,’ that’s bulls--t to me. My legacy is predicated on what Cam Thomas is learning from me and what he’ll take away to help him by the time he’s in his 10th year. That’s my legacy. What I did with Andre Roberson, the confidence I helped him build when he was in the league. That's my legacy. Being able to play with Russell Westbrook, Steph Curry and Kyrie and still be me. Yeah, that's my legacy. That's who I am. That's what I bring to the game.
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/100 ... s-and-more
It also doesn't match the ESPN report:
Durant told the Nets he'd play out the rest of this 2022-23 season if they couldn't find a way to route him to be alongside Booker and future Hall of Famer Chris Paul in Phoenix. And he would find a way to get excited about winning with the players Brooklyn had acquired from Dallas in its trade for Irving the day before.

Regarding his legacy, I mean, his actions certainly say different. He jumped from OKC at the end of that run to join up with Golden State in the midst of their run, then joined up with Kyrie in Brooklyn to try and win in the East. Did he make those moves because they had really great young players he wanted to mentor and help develop? He can be a great teammate to guys like Roberson and Cam Thomas and still be motivated to put himself in the best position to win a title. If he were so concerned about Cam Thomas, he wouldn't have made a request to be traded to a team he can make a clear favorite for a title.
And I'm not sure he would've played out the rest of the year with the Nets, and the Nets may not have wanted him to. Maybe he'd have played some games, but he would've sat with various injuries and if the losses would've piled up, he would've shut it down.

Yeah, you're right. He's made it pretty clear he's a title hopper.

I think title hopper is a bit much…of course he wants to be on a team that can win, but I think it’s more than that. If he just wanted to win titles he would’ve stayed in GS. He wants to play with people who play a certain way. Going to GS was more about pure basketball than it was just winning. Going to Brooklyn was about playing basketball with his friend and being the clear #1. Coming here is again about just playing pure basketball with other guys who love to hoop.

This should be his season averages, with a lower FG% expected, slightly less ppg, more rpg

Great to see Cam Payne getting up shots. It bummed me out to see him sitting in the corner in the first round of KD practice clips.

I don't care how many stocks that dude gets, he rebounds like Ray Allen.

That's because our scorekeeper doesn't cook the stats and give DA fake blocks.
