Beal for LeBron. That's the way.
Re: 2024 NBA Draft
Seriously? He can make $50M and play with his kid, and he’s going to say no? You’re not fooling anyone, Rich.Rich Paul wrote:The Lakers can draft Bronny, and LeBron doesn't re-sign.
I guess technically he’s right. LeBron would pick up his option, not re-sign. It’s not a new contract.

Re: 2024 NBA Draft
Only if he takes less money on his contract, and then can't be traded until later in the season, around mid Dec?

Re: 2024 NBA Draft
If he opts out and re-signs, the first year number is low enough that we can trade Beal or KD for him. If he opts in or extends off the opt in, he makes too much.
But ya, Dec 15th at the earliest. We could trade KD for him on draft night

Re: 2024 NBA Draft
I don’t believe Rich Paul that there is no way he’ll sign for the minimum.

Re: 2024 NBA Draft
I do. I think LeBron wants to own a team in the future more than he wants to win another ring.

$50M (more like $30M after taxes and agent cut) is not going to affect his ability to buy a team. He’s a billionaire. His salary next season is a small percentage of his worth.

You’re underestimating his ego and how he manages his money.
He’s not playing for the minimum anywhere next season.

That’s it, he’s out of the GOAT debate…. Jordan played for the minimum his last two years. J/k…. Jordan would have fleeced the wizards if he could have too lol.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 10:34 pmYou’re underestimating his ego and how he manages his money.

Re: 2024 NBA Draft
If I were Lebron, I also would not play for the minimum salary. Why should he, when he can make $50m? He may already have a lot of money, but his years as a big wage earner are nearly over, and every extra $1m he can acquire will provide for his family for generations.

Re: 2024 NBA Draft
Rich Paul and Lebron and Bronny’s first and second options are probably to be drafted by the Lakers in the first round or second round. Lebron probably wants his son to be a Laker too and to win. His third option probably is to opt out and let Bronny play for the Suns. I can’t imagine believing the Suns think Bronny is a first round pick and worth a roster spot. If they trade back in the second, maybe you hold Bronny hostage with the threat of G league. And forcing Lakers to cough up a pick or a player.
But i think there is a decent chance suns and lebron come together: Champ and Fizdale are part of his inner circle. It isnt nothing.

Re: 2024 NBA Draft
You don’t think him winning a ring with his kid has any appeal?
Re: 2024 NBA Draft
My guess is that this Bronny stuff is mostly favor-trading between James Jones and Lebron/Rich Paul. Lebron wants the Lakers to draft Bronny at #17 and play with him in LA. But if he doesn't put any pressure on the Lakers, he worries they may not take him #17 and may try to let him slip to their 2nd round pick. But Lebron is worried that some other team will scoop Bronny up before then, ruining his plans to play with him in LA. So to force them to spend #17 on Bronny he needs the threat of at least one other team that could draft Bronny. So he calls up his buddy James Jones and asks us to work him out and put out rumors that we might draft him.
I think ultimately the Lakers buckle and take Bronny at #17. That's too high, but they want to keep Lebron there and keep him happy, so I think they just grit their teeth and do it.

Re: 2024 NBA Draft
I think that makes sense too except that Rich Paul really just puts pressure to get what he wants. If Lebron wants a max and his son picked in the first, then he’d just say it. Suns adding pressure helps a lot.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2024 9:15 amMy guess is that this Bronny stuff is mostly favor-trading between James Jones and Lebron/Rich Paul. Count Sam Vecenie as another mock draft that has us taking Tyler Kolek

He’s a billionaire. Another $30M (after income taxes and agent cuts) is not going to make a very noticeable difference in lifestyle for himself or his family.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2024 6:50 amIf I were Lebron, I also would not play for the minimum salary. Haven’t watched a lot on Missi…he’s an athlete and has a lot of defensive potential…pretty unskilled with the ball.

Re: 2024 NBA Draft
I think Missi will be off the board by 22, but I'd really like him on the Suns. There's a lot of potential upside and value with him at the back end of the draft.
