Where he's listed doesn't mean much of anything to me. Watching him tells the true story.

He wants to be a wing more than anything else and he gets bullied by anyone 15lbs. heavier than him. Routinely playing him at Center is not a successful strategy.

He played far more possessions at Power Forward than Center this past season as well.

Fine. He's a 7ft3 forward. Regardless, Bamba is shit.

Here’s my full off-season plan with two timelines:

Draft:

1. Draft Yves Missi or Kel’el Ware
2. Draft Tristan Da Silva

Retain:(timelines are the same here)

Re-sign Royce O’Neale and Bol Bol

Trades:

1 and 2: Trade unprotected 2031 pick to OKC for 2 1sts and 3 2nds.

1. Trade Nassir Little and 2 2nds for Davion Mitchell
2. Trade Nassir Little and 1 2nd for Nick Richards

Free Agency:
1. Sign Nic Batum to a vet min
2. Sign Kris Dunn to a vet min

Timeline 1:

Book/Beal/KD/Batum/Nurkic
Mitchell/Allen/O’Neale/Bol/Ware

Timeline 2:

Book/Beal/KD/Da Silva/Nurkic
Dunn/Allen/O’Neale/Bol/Richards

Timeline 3 would just keep the Little for Mitchell trade instead of Richards and sign Mo Bamba instead of Dunn.

So 2nd unit becomes Mitchell/Allen/O’Neale/Bol/Bamba

Thoughts?

In both you’d still have 2 future 1sts and 2-3 future 2nds as trade pieces that you could attach to Grayson, Royce, or Nurkic come deadline to add to the roster.

I would like to move Nurk, but I’m just not sure how we do that yet.

Timeline 4:

Trade 22 for 27 and 37.

Draft: Bobi Klintman and Bronny James
FA: Mo Bamba and LeBron James
Trade: Little for Mitchell

Booker/Beal/KD/James/Nurk
Mitchell/Allen/O’Neale/Bol/Bamba
Bronny/Okogie/Klintman

I really don’t like the idea of trading any more unprotected firsts.

Remember when Vancouver traded for Thorpe with what turned out to be the #2 pick in 2003? They could have drafted Anthony, Bosh, or Wade. Instead they got 47 games of Otis Thorpe.

Not even for multiple 1sts?

The chances of that ’31 pick being near the top of draft is significantly greater than the odds of getting something good with one of those late picks from OKC.

I get that…if you are done with the current version of this team you shouldn’t do it…but then you should also probably trade KD and try to trade Beal.

I think it’s a great move though if you think you can get this team to contender level. Right now we have very limited assets to attach to contracts to upgrade. Right now we have two tradable contracts(Nurk and Little) and 4 tradable picks(2024 1st, 2031 1st, 2028 2nd(Bos), 2031 2nd). My idea would let you draft a young player this year, attach a pick to Little to acquire a useful player, and still have 4-5 tradable picks(2 future OKC 1sts and 2-3 future 2nds).

If you refuse to trade 2031 then you are basically bringing back the same team and just adding a rookie, vet min guys, and maybe a bench player via trade. Maybe you win a game in round 1 next year, but you’re still going nowhere. But I do get it if you think this team just needs to be blown up.

You were proposing trading the pick for picks, not trading it for a player to make the team better. 2nd round picks from OKC are almost worthless. You’re talking about trading an unprotected potentially high pick, for two picks near the end of the round.

That’s not true…towards the end I mentioned you’d have those picks available to attach to Nurk, Grayson, or Royce at the deadline to upgrade. Also who says they have to be OKC’s own picks? The reason I used them is they have tons of picks. You could get a Utah pick, a Houston pick, a LAC pick, a Miami pick, a Philly pick…they don’t have to be OKC picks.

I think you can game the system with that unprotected ‘31 pick. If you stay in the 2nd apron long enough doesn’t that pick move to the end of the 1st round? So, trade the pick, keep a high roster salary and limit the downside.

No the first one that would move to the end of the 1st is the 2032 pick

If the picks are juicy enough, OK. I wouldn’t count on LAC, Miami or Philly for a premium pick, but maybe the others could deliver.

When are the UTA/HOU picks, and are they protected?

Utah pick is top 10 protected I believe next year. Houston pick is either the 12th pick this year or their pick next year.

Oh no, I do not want another long string of puns. Can we please be Dunn with that?
