The other day a large (~6'4" ish) African American dude came into my office hours at Stanford. He wanted to ask me about some computer science stuff he and some friends are interested in. Told me his name is Anthony Goods and he used to play for Stanford's basketball team. You guys remember him? Graduated around 09? Kind of interesting to meet him. I guess being a CS guy at Stanford has some perks.

Today's #Suns workout: Syracuse F J. Grant, UConn PG S. Napier, Michigan F G. Robinson, Mem G J. Jackson, St. Jo F Roberts, NM F C. Bairstow

GRIII and Napier are the headliners here. Grant is predicted to go in the mid-late 1st...not a huge fan. Bairstow is an interesting name

Grant is moderately intriguing because of his physical tools, he seems like a guy McD would be interested in.

Yeah, I have feared for months that Grant will be one of the guys Ryan picks. And TOO is exactly right, Grant is right up Ryan's alley in terms of the kind of prospect Ryan likes. So is James Young unfortunately.

He doesn't scare me as a prospect because I think he can be a lockdown defender at the 3 and has shown a solid ability to finish in transition. I do worry about his lack of jumper and ballhandling ability. If he can develop a 3pt shot, he's Trevor Ariza. Syracuse also kinda makes players look lesser than they really are. I'm not saying I'd take him at 14 or even 18, but at 27, I'm all over him.

Grant just isn't a basketball player. He's a good athlete, and you're right, he can finish in transition, but that's about it. He really hasn't shown any touch from the perimeter, so to say "if" he develops a 3-point shot is a big IF.

And if anything, all Syracuse does is hide players defensive inadequacies.

Although Syracuse did hide the greatness of Hakim Warrick.

Obviously its a big if, lets not sit here and act like I heaped tons of praise on the kid because I didn't. I wouldn't say he's not a basketball player. He's got a real knack for getting to the line, and he's smart enough to know not to try to be something he's not. He cant shoot 3's so he doesn't, he also doesn't turn the ball over. You obviously don't like him, but he's not Wes Johnson dumb.

SMH - how on God's green earth did Wesley Johnson ever get drafted 4th overall? Kahn, I know - but you'd think there'd be SOMEONE in brass there that might've said something.

Why stop at the "lesser brother" trend? Lets start a new one with the "less talented son"..

He has at least two sons, right? I didn't really think of him as less talented than Harvey, since I can't remember Harvey much. Would it be safe to call Harvey, the Marcus version of the Grant twins? Another son was tearing it up at Notre Dame before being suspended, I think.

Well Harvey was a decent player for the Bullets, avg more than 16ppg for awhile if I recall. Aside from that he was much of anything. So really we'd be lucky if Marcus was the good Harvey.

As for the other Grant kid, Jerian? I think, I really haven't followed him much, I don't think he's the NBA prospect his brother is.
