The voice wasn’t obnoxious enough to be him.

Funny but the AI voice was kind of weird.

It didn’t quite capture Trumps car salesman bravado.

Yep, definitely underplayed. The best Trump impersonator out there these days is Matt Friend. Look him up on YouTube. The content in this was very good though. Some great lines.

JL Cauvin is probably the GOAT to me in terms of volume of good material impersonating Trump. But I find that if you just want the best voice match, James Austin Johnson does a really accurate-sounding Trump impression. Go to about 8:20 in this clip:

Never heard of Cauvin but I am very familiar with Johnson. I thought he was the best until I heard Friend. I do love Johnson's stream of consciousness Trump though. Have you heard him discuss Scooby Doo as Trump?

ETA: OK, looked up Cauvin. I have seen him but he pales in comparison to Friend and Johnson as far as capturing Trump's voice patterns.

With Cauvin it isn't about perfectly nailing the voice; he is pretty good but not dead-on like some others. With Cauvin it's more that I think he has the funniest actual material to say as Trump. He'll post these reaction tweets to news that happened the same day, and he has about 2-3 minutes of really funny Trump thoughts on whatever big news broke that day. And much more than the others like Johnson, he just cracks me up. Like, here he is talking about that Alabama boat dock brawl from last week. By about 1-2 minutes in he has me busting up about slam dunking and being dangerous by land and air and sea, etc.

OK, yeah you're just talking content which brings us back to the video I posted above. Personally, Cauvin put me to sleep with this video. The slam dunking on land part did make me chuckle though. He's not half the impressionists the other two are.

The thing with Friend is that he can do a lot of spot on impressions. His McConnell is excellent as well.

I do a pretty good McConnell these days, too. I just stop talking and wander off in the middle of a conversation.

It was like if Trump spoke like a normal person and without an accent.

Cauvin should write Johnson's material.

The crazy thing is if Trump had just taken the loss like a man and regrouped for this next election, there would have been no coup attempt and he would probably be the clear leader in the polls right now to regain presidency. But no...

People have praised Pence for being a more reasonable GOP voice in this election cycle. And I'm glad he didn't participate in the coup attempt on 1/6 and upheld his duty to certify the vote. But comments like this show that he's still much more a part of the problem than a part of the solution. Despite everything he's seen up close, he would still support that monster in 2024, the same man who happily cheered a mob that wanted to hang and kill Mike Pence. Just ridiculous.

Seems like Trump and Musk both have lots of enlightened thoughts about "the Jews" lately!

The source is liberal but the story hit home to me.

We Have Two Medias in This Country, and They’re Going to Elect Donald Trump
If the press doesn’t get involved in the civic health of the nation, there may not be a nation in which a free press might reside.

I linked this same article under the "Social Media" thread. It's a good one. The media needs to do better in an era where one of the US major political parties, and its leader, are openly antidemocratic, authoritarian, and evil. The media should not strive for "balance" between a normal functional political party and a fascist group trying to turn the US into a dictatorship.

This is a pretty unhinged statement by Trump about former Joint Chiefs chairman Mark Milley. He's basically calling for his execution, and/or threatening him, because of a recent story Milley told about Trump not showing any sympathy for a wounded soldier.
