What about Paul's side of this? He sure doesn't want to go to Washington. That would be a slap in the face from us. Unless Washington can then move him to LA.

It’s funny that people said we can’t get anything for Chris Paul in a trade, and we might be able to get Beal.
I see it more as Shamet for Beal :D

Those are all people reading into the Chris Haynes tweet. I guess you can read that it means Beal wants Ayton on the Suns still, but I’m not sure that’s what he meant.

Point is people are reading into that tweet a lot.
It's funny, I didn't read it that way at all. I read it as Beal wanting Paul traded to Washington as that would be better for them financially. I don't think this is about Ayton whatsoever. He has an opportunity to play with Book and Durant, why would he care if Ayton is on the team or not?
My initial reading was we would trade Ayton/Shamet for Beal, but if Beal said I’ll only go to Phoenix it would only take Paul/Shamet.

Another reading is we offered Ayton/Shamet and Washington wanted Paul/Shamet.

The 3rd option is it’s what Beal wants(normally I’d say that seems strange, but he does have more say than most players because of the no trade clause)

Washington would waive him and then he’d go to LA

Exactly - trading for Paul and waiving him puts them in a much better position to rebuild than taking on Ayton's contract. It also works out well for Paul as he then gets to sign where he chooses.

Would it be possible for us to resign him after he is waived?

No, if a player you trade is waived, you can’t re-sign them for 1 year. Washington would need to trade him again and then have that team waive him.

Ah ok, so if we were to trade him that really would be his tenure as a Sun over. Sad, but we'd be mad not to make the trade for Beal if that's all it would take.

Washington would waive him and he can sign with whatever team he wants (except Phoenix, which apparently is his first preference).

Right. Washington can do much better, but Beal holds a lot of power. End of the day, I think he'd rathe be in Miami.
Nope. Wanted to be in Phoenix.

Bradley Beal for Chris Paul and Landry Shamet would be the most lopsided trade in the history of the NBA.
And now it’s official 🤯

I think he would prefer the night life, staying in the Eastern Conference, and not sharing the backcourt with Devin Booker.
Nope.

If it’s Paul and Shamet for Beal you obviously do that. Give Washington whatever pick swaps and 2nd round picks they want.

Then you move Ayton for as many playable role players as you can find. Wouldn’t get any exceptions though. Just gotta fill the roster with vet min players.
Looks like that’s the plan.

It’s not hard to be right after the news broke. He never once mentioned Beal or Washington before Shams broke it.
