Hield started playing well last season as soon as he got to Sacramento. He's been up and down this year but I don't look at his success in college a product of his age. He doesn't have elite physical tools, which is why he hasn't been great in the NBA so far.

Murray has better physical tools and is doing better (surprisingly prolific to me on non-threes). Not really a PG but capable of coexisting with basically any other guard with decent handles. Hield is much more vulnerable, although a true sharpshooter off catch and shoot.

I think both teams are happy with their guy (disregarding the issue of value in the Cousins trade), although Denver has a kid 3 years younger.

I don't know why it would make you think twice about drafting him though. That's usually a bad thing. Seems like a great kid with a really good head on his shoulders (and incredible wingspan!)

NBADraft.net currently has Bamba as their #6 pick. We'll see if we are even in that draft range at the end of the year. We probably need to be looking at 8-12 range players.

He gives a great interview. Very mature / poised / well-spoken for a 19yr old athlete.

And we know how Sarver loves guys who interview well.

We could do a lot worse than Mo Bamba. He could be really special, I think his offense will take awhile though.

Well there's options, Michael Porter Jr and Colin Sexton should both be good offensive players. I think Wendell Carter will be pretty good offensively too. And for the record, I think Bamba could turn into a good offensive player. He's got some skill, just pretty raw right now.

He had back surgery. That's not an ACL that got repaired. Once a chronic back issue, always a chronic back issue. It's just a matter of time. Nash was a different story because he was a guard and the master of playing to his strengths which were NOT his athleticism. Porter is a big man. I would shy away from him like I would shy away from a big man who had microfracture. I stay away from him at all costs.

Porter is a tall man, he's a SF. The back surgery is a scary but if he is at 10, I am all over that kid.

I personally am done fixating on a certain draft position, just leads to disappointment. Everyone thought we had a great shot at one this year with JJ who has been pretty bad, the best player so far was the 13th pick, and our best player was the 13th pick. Good ol crapshoot.

I'm with you. Can't worry about it any more. Our best picks come in the middle of the round anyway.

2018 is allegedly loaded at the top with can't miss talent. Doncic, Ayton and Bagley would have been the #1 pick in 2016 for sure. Current Trae Young and Porter before injury probably too.

The crapshot factor is always looming, but strength of the draft class is a catalyst. We 'got away' with a late lotto picks in 2014 and 2015 because both classes were deep. 2013 and 2016 were exactly the opposite. 2017 remains to be seen although Jackson is obviously struggling beyond defense and strict ballhandling.

Would I rather be picking at the top or in the teens? Despite the crapshot factor, the answer is obvious to me. Now, if the decision is between lottery and playoffs, that's a different debate altogether, but we are in a rebuild situation and nowhere near close playoff contention.

Stars win games, so if you are going to lose, lose big so hopefully you can start back to win again soon. Either by selecting a star in the making or by trading away the high pick for a current one.

I understand the point of the thread, but its really enjoyable to just watch the team we currently have win a few games and not worry about draft positioning.
