Hali blowing his achilles is such a sick joke man. This blows.
Given the game situation and (apparent) seriousness, maybe one of the most brutal injuries ever.

The NBA has got to figure out how to keep its best players on the court.

The only answer is shortening the season, but they won’t do that

How do you figure out how to prevent certain players from getting injured? Every team has the same parameters to deal with.

Sad when all the statistics in the world can prove shortening the season and eliminating back to backs would reduce injuries but when they look at the lost revenue they could care less about the data. Capitalism ftw!

There is still time. OKC is leaving the door open. Need to play solid basketball and quit going for home runs now.

It's not up to me. I'm not the one with resources, like the best sports science and medical professionals in the world.
They've reduced the back-to-backs, but they just need to be eliminated.
I get they won't ever reduce the number of games, but maybe some sort of hiatus for recovery would help.
But this becoming too common place over the last 10 years. Tatum, Giannis, Jamaal Murray, Haliburton, Durant, Klay, etc. It doesn't make sense for technology/science/medicine to advance so far to have more injuries then we saw in the mid 90s with Shaq, Malone, Stockton, Reggie, the Admiral, Barkley, Olajuwon, Drexler, Ewing, Jordan, Pippen, etc. Now it's rare to get through a playoff series without one of the best players being lost to injury.

It's almost as if they are training TOO much. With all the advancement and ability to micromanage things, today's players just dont get a break.

Hmm. Not sure what has changed since the mid 90s other than the pace of the game. But yeah, I wouldn't mind adding more rest time and maybe extending the season length.

10 point game and then they immediately give up a dunk. Back to 10. 2 minutes remaining.

Compare those 90's games to what were watching today. The pace is staggeringly different and that has a lot to do with this specific injury.

Pace in transition and in the half court…a lot more movement to cover shooters all over the court

Congratulations to the newly crowned NBA champion OKC Thunder. Another team to beat the Suns to a title and in a much shorter timespan.

The season has been 82 games for decades, now you need to shorten the season to prevent injuries? I don’t think so. How about decrease the wear and tear on young players in AAU ball. Stop pushing them so hard when their bodies are developing. Stop playing young players year round and give them time off. There is way too much pressure on young players. The same goes for baseball.

Absolutely amazing that they still had a chance with under 2 minutes remaining. Reminds me of Joe Gilmartin’s old book about the 1976 Suns: “The Little Team That Could... And Darn Near Did!“

The league have far more achilles injuries than 90's players. I think they're practicing less , not more, and the pace and style of the game leads to this. I would love less games and make regular season more important.
