Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
To build solely through the draft you have to get Knicks/Lakers/Timberwolves/Sixers kind of bad and then have patience while those young players mature. And it might take 3-4 years of being that bad before you see any results.
To take that route the Suns would need to trade off players like Knight, Bledsoe, Markieff, etc. and just stockpile draft choices and play their young players. And there's not guarantee that would work either.

would rather be really bad and grab Ben Simmons or Labissiere (whos comparable to Aldridge but only 18) in the draftCap wrote:Well, we're probably going to lose more than we win this season and have another late lotto pick. I hope that excites you.

I like the first part of this suggestion. Tucker for Lee and Looney. Lee provides depth now while I really liked Looney in the draft and think he could be a good player down the road. GS gets a great defensive role player and dumps a bunch of salary.Split T wrote:Lee wouldn't be bad. We'd need an asset coming back to take that salary. Tucker for Lee and Looney? Trade Markieff for a wing
That would be like building through the draft AND through trades.

You may get your wish. We were "really bad" at the end of last year. Since then, we've added Booker, Leuer, and Chandler while subtracting Wright, Mook, and apparently Green. If we're a better team now, it's not by much. Of course, the summer's not over and we still have cap room, so there may yet be significant improvements this offseason, but as things stand now, we're really bad.

Knight wasn't playing and Len wasn't producing. This locker room should be alot better too.Cap wrote:You may get your wish. We were "really bad" at the end of last year. It seems like this organization is trying to be competitive now so I wouldn't doubt a patchwork type of move. I'm not sure where the hastiness is coming from.carey wrote:Maybe so. I still think it's unnecessary shots at Phoenix. Amin has been kind of mean about it too. If I knew Markieff wouldn't go in the tank I'd almost rather just roll with what we have. Windhorst said there's a big market for Bledsoe. If we lose out on LMA maybe we reverse course and move him for young guys & picks. I honestly don't know what the next move is. I don't want to see West here. Maybe Amar'e but just as a backup playing 18 min a night at PF.
Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
He has every right to be based off a lot of our personnel moves of late. We are stalling the rebuild by trying to contend now when the west is absolutely stacked. It makes no sense but I get the feeling Robert Sarver is behind this.OE32 wrote:It's nice to have INF back. Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
Well sure. We've missed the playoffs for 5 straight seasons. It just seems like instead of getting back to it naturally as a reward of the rebuild we're trying to sellout for it. And that's ok if you land a guy like LMA. But I certainly don't want to trade assets to GS for Lee (for example) to do it.iLLmatic wrote:It seems like this organization is trying to be competitive now so I wouldn't doubt a patchwork type of move. This still isn't a playoff team.Cap wrote:You may get your wish. We were "really bad" at the end of last year. But Chandler is better then Wright
Gerald Green wasn't a rotation player for the last part of the yr and when he did get mins he was horrible
and Morris is addtion by subtraction when you add T.J. in.
Brandon Knight wasn't playing who is a big part of the team as well.
We're better then we were at the end of last yr and I'm not even counting Booker or Len,Goodwin and TJ's extra yr of improvement. I don't think its' even a question.

I don't think anyone wants to trade assets for Lee. I think GS knows they are the ones that are gonna have to give up assets in that trade. We'd be doing then a huge favor
Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
bah back in bball no mans land chasing the 8th seed for 6th year in a row. I cant think of any more established stars we may chase. I hope McD has another surprise coming. Do we just see what can be done at the trade deadline? Or Is it now that we hit the reset button and trade our good but not great players like Bledsoe for new draft picks like NY's? I worry if we delay this for another year, guys like Bledsoe may continue to demonstrate a lack of upside and hurt their trade value. Setting ourselves up for more time in no mans land
Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
We should probably just trade Kieff and PJ for LeBron.
Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
I would loved to pair West and Wright together.Furlanfufi wrote:We could try and sing David West for a shorter contract if LMA goes to the Spurs.

I would LOVE that deal.Split T wrote: Tucker for Lee and Looney?
Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
Sure, the Suns want him to be a big part of the team. But we haven't seen any indication that he'll thrive playing next to Bledsoe. In fact, it's just the opposite.Sunsfan4life wrote: Brandon Knight wasn't playing who is a big part of the team as well.
Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
I went and looked at some of Lee's stats and watched some video of when he came back from his injury. They didn't play him in the playoffs but at the end of the season whenever they actually gave him time he did well. Shooting 50% from the field the last 2 months and scoring roughly 10 a game. Is he worth $15M? No, but it's for one year and we open up cap space. I guess it depends on whether you think we need to preserve space for during the year. I think Looney is a project but I wouldn't mind adding him to the team.
I'm in favor of anything that adds a veteran PF and removes Tucker from the team.
Bledsoe/(Knight)/Archie
Knight/Booker
Warren/(Booker)
Lee/Markieff/Leur
Chandler/Len
It looks a lot better to me than last year's roster. Lee actually runs the pick and roll too so that's something.

I don't mind that trade, but you can't leave Markieff as a bench PF. He'll go ballistic. I think you have to either leave him as a starter at some position or trade him.

He would make zero sense on this roster with or without Wright.INFORMER wrote:I would loved to pair West and Wright together.Furlanfufi wrote:We could try and sing David West for a shorter contract if LMA goes to the Spurs.
