Witchfire on PC is incredible. It's like Dark Souls FPS. It is the first FPS in a long time that makes me slow down, think, and feel genuinely tense every run. It scratches the same itch as Souls games for me, but with insanely good gunplay. Every run feels dangerous, and every upgrade feels earned. It looks really good too.
The "animal mascot with a cool dude attitude" thing is kind of played out, but they had several creative spins on it.
It was played out enough 25+ years ago that the Simpsons could completely destroy it even back then. I guess maybe it's had time to come back around to nostalgia/fun again? Especially if you tweak it a little.

I just got Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment as a Christmas gift. Can't wait to try it out! I hear it has a really excellent story.

Are those the games where you button mash your way through endless groups of hundreds of enemies and soldiers? I remember the series from many many years ago. My college roommates would play them all night long when I had to work early the next day.
Also, not a diss on the game. This is a super popular series that tons of people love.

Yes, these are those games. I think the latest couple of Hyrule Warriors ones are a bit different in that they are made with the help of the real Zelda team, so they look and feel a lot like BotW or TotK, which is cool. And they both have nice integrated stories and cutscenes that add to the lore and storyline around the last two mainline Zelda games. But yeah, at their heart they are about mashing your way through ridiculous mobs of hundreds of enemies, so the gameplay is a little silly.

I enjoyed this interview with Roberta Williams, the co-creator of Sierra games, makers of many of my favorite PC adventure games from the '80s and '90s. Roberta is awesome, a legend in the gaming industry; I'm a big fan.

That's so cool. I played a bunch of their games through the years, starting with Mystery House for the Apple II.
Yeah, that was their very first game if I'm not mistaken. Roberta wrote it and Ken programmed it. I was always a Space Quest and Leisure Suit Larry guy before I worked for the company for nine years. And I had the pleasure of working on both series in my time there.
