He's a very safe pick, and while some would consider that a bit of a back-handed compliment, I think there's something to the idea that his floor is extremely high feeling really good about his chances to be at least a solid NBA player.

Similar to the baseball draft, a lot of teams will take a college pitcher with less upside over the HS pitcher with a lot of risk. They know the college kid isn't ever going to be a top of the rotation guy, but he's got a really good shot at being a #3/#4 type and those are still really valuable.

All of that being said, I can't imagine the Knicks take Big Frank at #4, that seems like a bit of a reach. I do think Kaminsky is really solid value when you start getting around #8

If we're taking Hazell, we can just as easily go with Patric Young or make an offer to Quincy Acy that the Knicks won't match. That's not to say we have to overpay, just that the Knicks won't match a 3-4 mil offer.

Thank you for your thoughts and insight. It is very much appreciated. In particular because it is so hard to watch any college ball here in Europe. All we have to form an opinion are some lousy streams, a few youtube recaps and the few good draft & scouting sites/videos.

Yeah, I don't see Kaminsky making it to #13.

Chad Ford and Jay Bilas are tweeting a mock draft for ESPN where they take turns to make picks. Bilas just picked Kaminsky for the Suns at 13

I just listened to the podcast (hour 3 today) and that's not what he said. He said "I wouldn't be surprised if the Suns drafted Harrell. He's got a long wingspan. He's very smart. Has been doing well in workouts."

I've been telling my Celtics buddy for a long time that if Stanley Johnson goes in the top-10 he's my candidate for 'not living up to expectations'. I'd rather trade down and pick Hollis-Jefferson if I have to have an Arizona guy. Hollis-Jefferson is going to play a long time in this league as a role-player because he's aggressive, athletic and can guard people. I like his game a lot when you get later in the draft; who knows maybe he develops a better jumpshot down the road too.

Dekker has a lot of natural ability, but he's inconsistent as a shooter and he doesn't handle the ball well-enough to justify a top-15 pick. Zero dribble drive moves. Dekks could flourish down the road in a running system because he does have strong athletic ability, but I don't think his skill level is high enough. Good passer though.

Harrell is too limited, he also seems to struggle when playing against guys he can't physically dominate or intimidate. Don't want.

Man, I don't think I could take it if a guy named Jon Holmes was one of our picks. I'd have to buy a jersey. In fact I don't think it would be prudent to draft a guy with that name at all. The cheers would get kind of crazy knowing the Scottsdale crowd.

With the draft just around the corner, there's actually something to talk about and get excited about regarding the Suns for the first time in a long time.

I must say our front office is very, very tight with the information it lets out, so it's hard to get a read on what we'll do (other than I can't see us trading the pick unless it's to move up somehow)

I'm not super-down on him, and I'll be fair I didn't watch much Arkansas this year, saw most of their game against Kentucky where they had them on the ropes.... but not a ton else.

- There's things to like, big kid, and he's got some ability to score, pretty mobile and runs the court/finishes well in transition. Hes plenty big to play in the NBA right now.

Compare him to a guy like Kaminsky who has similar size, honestly isn't much worse athletically but is vastly more skilled. I would also prefer the upside of Turner over Portis.

JMO.

I do like him vastly more than Harrell though. Would hate that pick.

If we draft at 13 I'd love to get Turner, but I think he'll be gone by then.
