Fox is putting up a really good game against Ball.
I think the appeal of Fultz is that he isn't bad at anything and he's very good at everything. Plus, he is more physically imposing than Ball. We've seen a ton of great players who are just great at getting to the ft line, and Fultz looks like one of those. Ball is a guy who is great at passing and we've seen a lot of those guys struggle to win.

Who is Lavar going to blame for UCLA not winning the National Championship?

Monk and Fox were outstanding. Both look like they will be fantastic pros.

Dunno. How can anybody watch tonight and still want Ball over Fox?

Fox is an incredible athlete, so fast. If he figures out that jumper he will be a John Wall type.

So, Fultz is kind of a Brandon Roy and Ball a Jason Kidd?
Knees be damned, Peak Roy was awesome, but Peak Kidd went to the finals twice... I guess you can't go wrong with any, but the current NBA it's just brutal on guards who can't shoot, so I would take Fultz I guess.

I think Fultz is more a Penny Hardaway, I think he's a PG, Roy was a SG.

This comment must have been made early in the game. Ball did not impress in the 2nd half.

This was my first full game watching Ball. I wouldn't compare him to Kidd. He didn't run end to end like Kidd used to. Very good passer though. Didn't seem able to take over a game. He got kind of passive in this one. Like I said, this was the first full game I watched of him but he didn't look like a consensus #1 pick in this one. He might look nice next to Booker though.

What you saw last night was Ball's inability to take over a game offensively because he's not a threat to shoot off the dribble. He's best at setting guys up so he needs shooters and a go-to scorer around him (similar to Kidd). Not a strong PnR player either.
De'Aaron Fox tho...wow. You can see the similarities to Wall, but will need to get stronger and work on his jumper.

That's why he isn't the consensus #1. I don't know anyone except Marty who has him #1. Suns fans have seen a lot of games with Kidd and Nash where your best player is more a passer than a scorer, and we should know how that story ends. I still like Ball for the Suns, because Booker can be the guy to take over the game for us, and Ball can keep the rest of the team involved. But I say that assuming we will pick #3 or #4.
In Ball's defense, this was one of his worst games. He has taken over plenty of games before, and he looked slower than he usually does, and we didn't see him playing off the ball as well as he can. De'Aaron Fox looked better than he usually does. I wonder how much this changes the draft order.

DX has Ball going #2 and Fox going #6 as of the 23rd. Let's see what they say after the next update.

I just like Ball for -our- team, is my main point. We desperately need an unselfish PG who would rather get 15 assists than 30 points.

Agree about the focus on different areas of the game, but then I'd also like to get a guy who *can* score 30 points whenever he wants to. Plenty of guys fit that description of preferring to get assists over points, but I want one who is a threat to score regardless of his propensity to pass. If we had an actual Knight for Rubio trade on the table (I'm on record stating that I'm not convinced this was an actual offer), I'd have done it in a heartbeat. But I don't think Rubio is my ideal point guard since he isn't even a streaky scorer. But if we get even a combination of Brandon Jennings' scoring abilities in a Rubio type package, I'd do it. But for Ball, his scoring is suspect at the NBA level, from what I've seen and read, so I'm not as high on him. If his defense is also subpar, then that knocks him down another notch. Oh and there's always LaVar "I'm beating MJ 1-on-1" Ball.

This draft is going to be unbelievable. We are debating who to take, when you could have the next Kidd, Pippen, Wall, Ray Allen, a cross between Battier and Melo, Dirk, a pg version of the Greek Freak, a cross between Baron Davis and Steve Francis, Rashad Lewis with defense, and possibly the best player out of all of them being a late blooming kid with no visible holes in his game(Damien Lillard w/ 4 inches added) who may just fall to the Suns at 3 (according to the latest mock draft).

I'd like to know who all these guys are. Dirk is Markkanen I assume? Kidd is Ball? Pippen is Josh Jackson? Wall / Fox? Davis / Francis is Monk or Dennis Smith Jr.? Which is the Lillard + 4 inches?

Davis /Francis is Dennis Smith. Fultz is Lillard +4. Monk is Allen.
