The Rose off the court stuff makes me uncomfortable as well.

Rose should play for a contending/playoff veteran team that needs a boost off the bench, like the Blazers or Warriors or Bucks or something like that.

Ya I wasn’t necessarily advocating for him...my point was he doesn’t really solve our pg issue.

I thought we would keep Melton. I concurred with the others in my "Dead Pool," except I think Crawford will be gone as well.

But Johnson? Yuck. I really want to see him traded for a useful player. He's not really a PG, and he's a mediocre enough SG that he's not going to see much time behind Booker. He would also be a back up to our new Veteran PG, plus probably Garland or White. That's $20M in wasted cap space.

Also: no real interest in Rose. I would add Tyus Jones to the list of PGs that should be on our radar for vets. (He's an RFA who was getting middling minutes, but is a defensive stud and has a ridiculous A/TO ratio).

Sorry. Was just replying. Someone was advocating getting Dragic, DRose, Jeremy Lin or Rubio. Scraping the bottom of the barrel for some reason with a veteran options. There's better choices out there.

I still like Tyler Johnson and think he'll work better with a full training camp under a more traditional coach/style. I'm not opposed to moving him in the right deal or waiting until the deadline but I think he's at least serviceable even in a backup role.

Melton and Okobo are both so young I'd hate to give up on either. I like Okobo more but it seems Jones has his own ideas for PG.

It would be foolish to move off of Melton so early. He showed some really nice defensive flashes as a rookie.

I don't think there's a role here for Okobo next season.

If you don't keep Melton, don't draft a PG, and trade Tyler, then I can see a role for him as he develops. But if I think of what is likely to happen for us, I agree that he needs too much development time to get it here next year.

I don't even see Okobo as a pure PG, but more of a scoring guard who can play some point.

I don't know why you'd want to move on from Okobo after one season but I suppose if we are adding two more guards then it makes sense.

If you absolutely need their cap space (3M combined) or to use them in a trade, by all means go for it, but there is no reason to just move on from Okobo or Melton, even if you draft a PG and sign a vet.

You still need a third PG. Okobo is inexpensive and could serve well in that role while he develops (he is far from talentless). As for Melton, he is a defensive specialist so that's how you treat him; on the bench until situational minutes are needed against whoever is torching us any given night.

Okobo seems like he'll be a nice NBA player after a few years more seasoning, whether that's overseas, in the D-League, or on some other team.

I had a dream that Tyler became our 3rd string pg and backup sg, after the Suns acquired Dinwiddie, Beverly and got Culver in the draft.

Ugh. I hate articles that are based on pure 100% speculation.

Nets making moves to free up capspace for Kyrie and/or Durant but would have to renounce DAR to get to 65mil freed up.

Either one would work. We just need to be better each year and continue the progression. We can worry about making championship moves once we’re winning 50 games and fighting in the playoffs.
