Here’s a big clue why Ayton is still on the team lol

I’d consider trading Ayton into cap space. If Houston offered me KMJ and a 2nd, I might take it. Would let us use the MLE. Offer that to Brook Lopez…and you might have the BAE to get another FA. You’d also create a massive TPE that you could use instead

Bingo.

Ain't got shit to do with Vogel and Jones "loving" him, nobody wants him at his price.

I think Ayton has more value than Collins, though it may not be much more.

Who'd prefer to play PF.

You guys are crazy. That trade isn’t even an indication of Collins’ value. The Hawks didn’t want to take back salary; they wanted to get under the luxury tax.

Still a crazy trade… if they moved him before signing that contract he would’ve netted multiple firsts. Collins’ career trajectory feels slightly Joe Smith-ie in terms of his on court production.

Also smart move by the Jazz. Slightly surprised the Thunder didn’t get in on this. They could use a bit of bulk up front.

Jazz are hoping Collins has a Markkanen like resurgence to his career.

Yes naturally. That’s why it feels like a Thunder move where they take someone for cheap, rehabilitate his value and resell for dollars on the penny. Like CP3.

I wonder if OKC has bigger plans for their cap space. I could see this being the year they strike

I think they are clearly not tanking, but this has to be a developmental year, no? Still so much raw talent on that roster and they still have to see what Chet becomes.

I think they have 1 obvious whole which is a reliable big.

Cason Wallace, SGA, Jalen Williams, Josh Giddey, Chet Holmgren.

That’s a great core, but it’s awfully small. I still really think they make a lot of sense as a KAT team. Give Minny Dort, some lesser prospects, and picks for KAT.

SGA/Giddey/Williams/Chet/KAT with Wallace off the bench. That’s solid.

Uh huh, explain why they couldn’t get a first round pick even.

This is Danny Ainge we're talking about.

Seriously, though, I don't know if anyone would have given up a first, but I think he could have netted something more if they wanted to take back more salary.

Only one Suns player made the list. ;)

Sorry but I would never touch KAT with what I see as a very solid if not tremendous team chemistry contributing strongly to winning ahead of schedule.

Also KAT doesn’t play any bigger than Collins. He’s clearly on a different stratosphere as a shooter but he doesn’t do any traditional big man things.

I think Chet can do a lot of the big man things. Chet is skinny, but he’s a good defender, shot blocker, and rebounder. I think it’s a similar idea to pairing KAT with Rudy but Chet has some ability on offense too.

And in my example they aren’t even giving up any of their top 5 guys to get him. I just think at some point they need to throw their chips in and go for it.

I agree. I think Chet has some similarities to Wemby, in that he needs a bulkier center that can take the daily physicality while his body fills out. In fact I’d say the urgency there is a but greater because he’s already lost his full rookie season. I guess I don’t see KAT filling that role on defense. On offense I think they would be able to coexist quite well.
