based on his position and skill set
and that we can retain Bledsoe's true value
i would have taken Jackson at 2!

Or Kobe.
Article on brightside had Jackson comparing himself to draymond as a competitor.

Raja had a similar mindset tempered by a lack of early success. We know guys like that can be great in the right circumstances.

From the draft recap at ESPN.com
Jackson is the best two-way player in the draft, with a combination of elite size, length and athleticism for a wing. He also has an ultra-competitive motor that makes him a handful on both ends of the court.

They have a little blurb on each guy.

Just trying to understand the impact of having Jackson on the floor. With Jackson and Booker both good creators, we may not need a star PG as much as we have in the past. Maybe Bled plays off the ball a little bit more this season.

Nobody outside of a straightjacket thought that. But Jackson is still a good prospect.
I heard several commentators suggest that Jackson may end up being the best pick in the draft

Based drat.net rating system this is how the first four were rated

100 - Jackson
100 - Fultz
98 - Ball
95 - Tatum

That was with them ranking Jackson a 6 in shooting. In every other area he excelled.

Hopefully he puts in the work to improve his shooting. Marion had lousy mechanics as well. I see him as potentially a better version of the Matrix. If that is how it works out I expect every Suns fan will be pretty happy.

I also liked Tatum, like many others, but we just might have stuck gold, let's hope.
What was the reason to get rid of Monty again? Oh yeah, that guy we drafted rather than Doncic.

Jackson is a good athlete, don't think he's as freaky athletic as Marion. Not many people are though.

Agreed. Isaac was the other guy I was considering but don't think I would have passed on Jackson either.

McD said he thought Jackson was the best player in the draft. Do we believe that? Or does he have to say that?

Everyone is always much higher on the Suns board than where they took them. I think he's said that with every pick he's ever made.

Jackson was pre-season number 1 in a lot of places. So i'm sure McD wasnt the only one to think this.

I actually never thought we had a shot at him which is why i zeroed in on Tatum and Fox.
Love, Hurts.

The Ringer had an article today on Jayson Tatum. What stood out to me in the article was a little blurb from Jonathan Tjarks that included Josh Jackson. It touches on one of the reasons I am so excited we were able to draft him.
I remember watching Jahlil Okafor go up against Myles Turner and Karl-Anthony Towns three years ago and thinking he just couldn’t hang with them athletically. Tatum was matched up against Josh Jackson a lot in 2016, and Tatum couldn’t get around him. All Tatum could do was force long 2s with a hand in his face. I was talking to an NBA executive about Jackson a couple of months ago, and he told me the best players in his class are all scared of him. As soon as I heard that, I flashed back to those scrimmages.
That is EXACTLY the type of player we needed on this team. A tenacious defender who straight up scares top-tier offense players. With him and Chriss on the team, we are not going to be lacking in toughness or chippiness, that is for sure. I'm hoping they can both rub off on Bender a little in that way.

I also want to point out the fact that Jackson is an unselfish player and a playmaker. He has vision, passes well, and has great instincts on the court. Those are all traits that we have been clamoring for, for a while. Well, bingo!

Chriss is more chippy than he is tough. Gets on my nerves.

He does have some fake tough guy in his game for sure. A little Kieff-ish.

I'd say that is true. But I would rather that than a guy who plays with no fire.
