I'd give him Knight's roster spot. As they mentioned during the broadcast (after they spent 5 straight mins talking about water, no really) Phx has so many guards so it's tough to find him a spot. He's not better than Bledsoe or Ulis but he is better than Knight and Price so whatever.

No thanks to James. His hero ball may work in SL, but we'll tire of it very quickly if he does it against NBA competition. I like Ulis much better. James can stick around if we have the roster spot, but I don't want to see him in the rotation.

Ya, he should have fouled but I'm not worried about that right now. He's very athletic, aggressive and quick and showed pretty good ability to stay in front of his man. Even on that last play, he stayed in front of Baldwin, just wasn't strong enough to keep him out of the lane.djy2j wrote:Until that last play where he had a foul to give but instead he let Baldwin have a lay up. By the time he realized he was beat, it was too late to foul. The last thing you want to do in that situation is commit a shooting foul, and potentially a three-point play.Split T wrote:Ya, he should have fouled but I'm not worried about that right now. Not that it matters, since he's not going to make the team.

That isn't really a meaningful comparison. We don't get to make that choice.Indy wrote:Would you rather have BK as your 4th guard at $14M, or James at <1M?
Mike James has some talent as a microwave bench guard, but he's not a true PG, so I find him uninteresting.

Well *we* don't get to make any of these choices, just like we don't get to decide if we sign Amare, or keep Kerr, or pay JJ an extra $5. But this is a sports message board.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:That isn't really a meaningful comparison. I am not interested in keeping Mike James unless we deal Knight. We do not need two of those guys on the roster. We really do not need one.

Mike James is not an NBA player. He's a short ball hog who's game is best suited for LA Fitness.
All he does is score. And he dominates the ball to do that. He does not make the team better and he won't be able to score that way against real NBA players.
I don't even want him on the roster. He does not play the game the right way

Based on what we've seen on court and on the sidelines, I don't think Jackson or Chriss really wants to keep James, either.
You guys know where I stand on this. We have plenty of young guys to develop. If we need to fill the 15th roster spot, lets bring in a veteran.

I'm fine with a vet. But we had Barbosa and let him go so I am curious as to the direction they choose to go in. Barbosa was a fan favorite and former champion. The only legit reason to let him walk would be because he wanted to be let go and get more PT somewhere else. Outside of that there would be no excuse.O_Gardino wrote:Based on what we've seen on court and on the sidelines, I don't think Jackson or Chriss really wants to keep James, either.

Bender isn't a fan either. Have seen him yelling at James to give him the ball too

I agree with that if the roster stands pat. But there is some hope that we are going to fil that spot with a bad contract if we can bring in asset.djy2j wrote:I'm fine with a vet. Yeah, but we try to make the questions meaningful. "Would you rather have herpes, or Mike James at <1M?" Not exactly an argument for signing him, considering that signing him isn't going to cure your herpes.Indy wrote:Well *we* don't get to make any of these choices, just like we don't get to decide if we sign Amare, or keep Kerr, or pay JJ an extra $5.
