Your first three paragraphs are the same sentiments people made about Kyrie. Let’s not chicken out because he may leave in 2 years. If we can’t put together a good team that’ll entice him to stay in 2 years then forget it Booker is definitely gone too.

And no, I don’t think Kemba is as good as Kyrie.

If we trade for Kemba and resign him in two years, we are essentially locked into a team in which Booker and Kemba as our core. They will consume over 50% of our cap. Is that core good enough to be anything other than to finish as a 4 seed for a year or two before Kemba drops off and his contract becomes an albatross? I don't think so. Kemba has been good enough to get his team... 2 more wins than the Suns right now. The Hornets chronically underperform. Plus, I don't want to do anything that makes us better this year. Adding a real difference make through the draft on a cost-controlled contract is exactly what we need if we legitimately want high-level sustained success.

The more I think about it, the more I'd rather be the third team in this trade, using the Monroe expiring to facilitate while extracting assets. We can make big moves after that draft. Kemba is not the player to go all-in on.

We have been the absolute JOKE of the NBA for 7 years now. Are you kidding me? I would LOVE to be the 4th seed right now!

This team is NOT bad enough to get a real difference maker through the draft. We're the dumbest organization in the NBA. We can't get out of our own way. The fan base is just as short-sighted as the organization! We don't want to lose and suck enough to get a first or second pick, but at the same time we don't want to acquire talent in hopes of continuing to suck to get a star player through the draft.

We have talent that is just good enough to stay out of the top 1-2, but overall is G-league material. Your'e talking about adding a player who is still young and would immediately become our best or second-best player on the team.

You'd still have a young trio of Chriss/Bender, Warren, Jackson and we'd still have a collection of picks to turn around and trade for another star.

Say we could somehow recruit Anthony Davis or KAT to pair with them.

I agree with you on most of these points. Except for the idea that we are not bad enough to secure a top pick. I think its almost certain we are going to finish in the bottom 6 at which point anything is possible. That pick is the last piece we need before we really start making moves. You only trade for Kemba if you have absolutely no qualms about paying him 25mill + per year through 2023. Stars become available frequently in this league. Just look at the last 12 calendar months. We can add a potential star this summer while maintaining all our current assets and flexibility. We should make our move after that.
