Suns News: Week 15 (1/24 to 1/30)
Re: Suns News: Week 15 (1/24 to 1/30)
So the Clippers should be 38-11 right now and in 1st place, but then all the other teams would need to be adjusted too.

It’s based on lost win shares…DA rates very highly on win shares and he’s probably the big reason. Just checked, based on his WS/48 and 18 games missed at 30 minutes a game, we’ve lost 2.5 wins due to Ayton being out.
Though checking Frank who has a WS/48 of .243 and has missed 37 games, it says we’ve lost 3.6 wins due to him being out…so that stat may be a bit misleading.

Good point, they would be behind by .5 games, due to more losses.

I don't think they are literally saying we'd have won 9 more games, it's more like 9 "win shares." Whatever that means.
Re: Suns News: Week 15 (1/24 to 1/30)
I know, but it's fun to think it's directly related to number of wins.

Not directly Suns related, but an interesting report on finding the new head coach of the Phoenix Mercury, with some interesting tidbits on the roles of James Jones and Robert Sarver:

That comment wasn’t directed at JJ, more so that we just came out of an extended Middle Ages and are enjoying a rather spectacular renaissance right now in terms of Suns basketball. On the whole I think JJ is far more positive than negative, nobody is perfect but the results speak for themselves. I might be one of the few people I know that liked the Cam Johnson draft too.The Bobster wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 4:27 amSure sounds like you're pinning some shit that happened before he got here on him.
To me he made one glaring mistake - he picked a player that they didn't use, and didn't pick up the option on instead of a player they could have used.
The other deals (even dumping Warren) can be rationalized.

I am one of the optimists on here with player outlooks and haven't said much about Shamet so far but it was clear tonight that Monty didn't think he could leave him in long.

Knocked down both corner 3s he took…. Some PJ Tucker potential if he can hit that consistently
Re: Suns News: Week 15 (1/24 to 1/30)
His best attribute is his offensive rebounding imo.

What a terrifying and crazy read. So glad it's worked out. It never answered how he got the two puncture marks other than an assumption it was from hanging hooks. The Bobster wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 6:38 amAron Baynes update -

What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

It seems like nobody knows, including him. And if they were from the hooks, you would think there would be blood evidence.AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 9:12 amWhat a terrifying and crazy read. Re: Suns News: Week 15 (1/24 to 1/30)
I think figuring the real total Win Shares lost due to injury needs to take into account the league average (theoretically .100 WS/48 min) when calculating how much a team loses when a player is out. You don't really lose all of Ayton's .219 WS/48 when he's out - if you're assuming there's a league average player to replace him. So really it's .119 WS/48 for Ayton unless you want to get really technical and figure out who's taking his minutes and use their WS/48 minutes for the calculation. In other words, Ayton missing time last year probably cost them more WS/48 than this year because his backups are much better this year (McGee .224, Biyombo .275, Smith .161). If Paul (.214) or Booker (.137) were the ones missing so much time it would ding the team a lot more because their time would go to Payne (.057), Shamet (.089) and Payton (.006).

It was the first I'd read of it too - I think the whole thing went under the radar for various reasons.Indy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 8:52 amholy shit. i completely missed this. The Bobster wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 6:38 amAron Baynes update -
