Kelly seems like a strong choice. Another name I saw mentioned was Andy Beshear, governor of Kentucky. I've seen a few clips of him and he seems ... okay? I certainly like Mark Kelly more, but maybe it's tougher to grab Kelly because then it vacates his Senate seat?
FT says Beshear is second tier in consideration now, makes sense because KY won't be in play. But I like him too.

My wife works at the airport and Mark and Gabby were checking in a year or two ago and she found him rude and offensive. He was especially rude and demeaning towards Gabby, which offended my wife the most. Maybe it was just a bad day for him and airports can be stressful but, she walked away not liking him at all.

It is hard to overstate how much palpable excitement and energy there is right now for Kamala Harris and her campaign. These people at her rally are loud and raucous and cheering and chanting and visibly and audibly excited for her.

Meanwhile, more conservative media just openly calling Harris a "DEI President." Presumably this is because "Critical Race Theory President" is out of fashion nowadays?

I would vote for a can of worms before voting for Trump.
In four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good, you’re not gonna have to vote.

On another note, FT IIRC ran an article saying that the VP list is down to Josh Shapiro, Roy Cooper...and Mark Kelly. All 3 are solid choices. Shapiro is probably riskiest because he runs extremely pro-Israel but offers the biggest prize (PA). Can Cooper put NC back into play? Kelly certainly would put Harris in a good position in AZ.

Incidentally, I was on a conference call with Kelly about six months ago via the American Chambers of Commerce in Asia -- he was clear, coherent, and had well-reasoned comments.
I guess the biggest issue with Kelly is losing the senate seat.

How about we talk about her qualifications and accomplishment instead of the color of her skin or her gender? Nah.

I have nothing but respect for Kamala. You became a doctor. Was that easy? She became a lawyer. I consider the two similarly hard to achieve. She became a prosecutor. That’s another achievement. She became the District Attorney for the entire state of California. A huge accomplishment. Then she became a US Senator. Then VP and now Presidential candidate.

Some people (gop) say she is dumb as a box of rocks. I don’t know anyone personally that has come remotely close to what she has accomplished in her lifetime. I don’t believe she could accomplish what she has in her lifetime and be as dumb as a box of rocks.

The funny thing is that most of the people saying that ARE as dumb as a box of rocks. I've always thought that when you judge others, you are judging yourself and it's certainly true here.

Sorry I was just kidding since you insinuated that her VP pick was a jerk to your wife, you wouldn't vote for Harris.

I'll be voting for whoever the democratic nominee is. Fairly simple election for me. I hate the democrats, but I can't vote for Trump and this Supreme Court.

She's a "DEI hire," and "intellectually" she's at the "bottom of the barrel." They just can't help themselves, making these discriminatory statements to trash Kamala. I think it's a bad idea and will backfire.

Here's another attack that I just don't think works. They like to show video of her laughing as though it were a bad thing. I think they should try showing some of these theoretical attack videos to some more moderate folks before posting them. Laughing is not a bad thing! And there is nothing wrong with her laugh. I don't know what they think is wrong with a clip like this. She is experiencing joy, and laughing. They seem to think this is a good line of attack. I really think you would only think that if you just deeply dislike her already and are already likely to find anything she does distasteful.

Because I'm in a boat that the Democratic Party does not care about.

I'm upper middle class but not self employed.'I have half a million dollars in student loan debt and spent my entire 20s making no money to complete my education, yet I make more than some arbitrary number they decided was the cut off to benefit from the EV tax rebate, student loan forgiveness, etc. They (Medicare and the federal government- democrats in particular) have targeted physicians in their healthcare reimbursement policies and sided with insurance companies who continue to make record profits yet I make less money hourly than an electrician or plumber, and significantly less than a consulting attorney. However, to make it sting even worse, they don't believe in tort reform so not only do I make less, one mistake can lead to me losing everything I've ever earned for my family.

Not every specialty has dealt with this, but my field has not gotten a raise in 20 years- not for inflation, nada. And now the last 5 years it's been a series of cuts. The docs in my specialty made more money annually 20 years ago than they do now, with twice the resources available to them and cost of goods/housing/ less education costs of 20 years ago.

I'm also stuck in the democratic hell of making enough money that I get taxed heavily, but it's all honest and transparent money (not LLC, 1099 income) where I can write off a bunch of shit and lower my tax burden.

The democrats have done jack shit for healthcare since Obamacare was started and they just blame the republicans for it instead of coming up with some centrist solution.

Their general stance on Israel/Gaza is infuriating to me.

Their immigration policy is a joke.

They wanted to push EVs and placed all these mandates for companies, but then placed all these stupid mandates that severely restricted which cars qualified for the incentives.

Don't get me started on stupid ass paper straws in California as if that saves anything on a macro level.

They're the party of fake selective outrage and publicity policies.

If they weren't socially aligned with my views (abortion, marriage, closer on immigration than the nationalist republicans of today) there's no way I'd vote D

I appreciate you laying all that out there! You make a lot of sense although I think a lot of it applies to both sides.
I'm also stuck in the democratic hell of making enough money that I get taxed heavily, but it's all honest and transparent money (not LLC, 1099 income) where I can write off a bunch of shit and lower my tax burden.
Yup, I was there too. Still am even in retirement.

These are the reasons I became a democrat. I'm closer to the center but it is Trump who has drawn me out strongly against him. I used to be pretty much apolitical but again, Trump changed that with his despicable behavior and authoritarian desires. In fact, I didn't used to have any hatred of the republican party until Trump entered the scene and it was just two different ideologies. I can't wait until we get back to some form of normalcy in the future (if we ever do and I do have my doubts now) without this huge divide in our country.

Normalcy has been thrown out the window and disgustingly juvenile behavior has been normalized. I never imagined that we could have ended up here.
