You could also add Lonzo Ball to the deal with more salary filler from the Hornets, that way you can unit the Ball brothers and upgrade their center.
Hornets: Lonzo, Vucevic
Bulls: Nurk, Cody Martin, Visilije Micic, 1st from Hornets and couple 2nds, and 2nds from Suns
Suns: Grant Williams and Nick Richards.

Yeah, works for me if at the trade deadline there is nothing else available.Wally_West wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 11:13 amYes, which is why I think it works. Nurk and Grant Williams are both negative assets, so we swap negative assets so we don’t have to give up our 1st to get rid of Nurk, the Hornets do it for us with a pick from the Mavs. Bulls get assets for Vuc and sweeter for Nurk. Hornets get an upgrade at the Center, now a rotation of Vuc and Mark Williams when he comes back. We get rid of Nurk and get a perfectly mid center in Nick Richards, and we still have a 1st and Grayson or Okogie’s contract to trade. I think everyone wins.
Would you do Nurk + the 2031 1stR with low protection for Kessler and Clarkson? I am assuming that pick lotto protected can be beaten by any team dealing with Utah and not looking to send out a bad contract like Nurkic. Granted, Clarkson is having terrible season shooting wise, but I believe at 32 he still has enough left in the tank under proper circumstances, like playing for a contender and a good offensive coach.
Of course I'd also explore who is the absolute best player we can get with Allen and the '31 pick unprotected, but the return would have to be outstanding both in terms of talent and fit.

If we really think we are one transaction away from a title run, maaaaaybe. But in general I think we are going to really feel the sting of those missing picks, and trading 2031 is going to really hurt. By 2031 we will probably be really bad and really need that pick in our pockets. Even as it is we'll feel the pain of not having a pick in say 2029, by which time KD will be long gone.

If we're going to use the pick, use it smartly on somebody that will be here for the long term.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

And on someone that will make a difference now.
Im not a fan of tossing the 2031 pick into a trade for a marginal better (if even that) player.

Maybe not ... Grant Williams out for the season with ACL tear.
Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...

I’m aware. As I explained in another post, that’s exactly why think a deal could be done.LazarusLong wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 7:20 pmWally_West wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 11:22 amYou could also add Lonzo Ball to the deal with more salary filler from the Hornets, that way you can unit the Ball brothers and upgrade their center.

I'd prefer to use Beal to get Poettl and Marcus Smart

Not sure Beal is waiving his no trade clause to go to Toronto.

Beal only waives his NTC for Miami or the Lakers IMO.

Maybe GSW too. And BRY as a long shot. Would be funny if we convince him to go back to WAS for their current vets. Kuzma, Brogdon and Valanciunas plus filler for Beal and Nurkic works in two separated trades.

Jerami Grant
Jakob Poettl
Heat get:
Beal
Blazers get:
Rozier
Jaime
Raptors get:
Duncan Robinson
First round pick from Miami
Then I'd flip Grant and our '31 first for Marcus Smart and Santi Aldama
Jones/Smart/Morris
Booker/Smart/Allen
Royce/Dunn/Allen
KD/Santi
Poettl/Oso/Plum
