Isn't that Ishbia's burner account?

Honestly, that does nothing for me because he is getting the most important thing wrong. It's great that he is fan-centric, and he wants to invest in the organization, but none of that really matters if he insists on putting a bad product on the court.iLLmatic wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 6:53 pmI think his heart is in the right place but his doubling down on his bad decisions isn't helping here..INFORMER wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 6:50 pmI don't understand how Phoenix is such a magnet for clueless owners.iLLmatic wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 6:46 pmAll this is making me miss Jerry Colangelo.Charlie Smithy! wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 6:35 pmAll this is making me remember when the New York Mets acquired Roberto Alomar, Mo Vaughn, and Rickey Henderson.![]()

New owner growing pains that's unfortunately going to waste Booker's good years. I've all but given up on Valley sports.INFORMER wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 6:56 pmHonestly, that does nothing for me because he is getting the most important thing wrong. I might have something to offer here, since I see a lot of similarities in other areas of business where I live right now.INFORMER wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 6:50 pmI don't understand how Phoenix is such a magnet for clueless owners.iLLmatic wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 6:46 pmAll this is making me miss Jerry Colangelo.Charlie Smithy! wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 6:35 pmAll this is making me remember when the New York Mets acquired Roberto Alomar, Mo Vaughn, and Rickey Henderson.![]()

A lot of these billionaires grew to be successful by trusting their instincts. Of course they surround themselves with smart people who give them advice, but in the end they trusted their own guts and came out successful, and therefore have all the faith in the world that their guts know more about this world than professionals trained in their respective industries combined.
And then these billionaires get bored with their own thing and buy sports clubs where they are invested emotionally, and they follow their guts. The rules of professional sports are, unfortunately, very different from the majority of other businesses, and so more often than not, any new deep-pocketed owner who wants to be the face of the franchise end up falling on their faces.
Most owners who are a net plus to their franchises tend to find good caretakers and stay out of the way. The only recent NBA owner who meddled a lot who enjoyed some success that I can remember is Cuban.

I feel you and feel like it’s a lot better since the rules changes…. Games are 2 1/2 hours instead if 3-4 hours. I think I like it also for the affordability and flexibility of games.iLLmatic wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 7:02 pmI'm not a huge baseball fan. What’s Darko Miličić up to these days?Charlie Smithy! wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 6:38 pmAnd hey, Isaiah Thomas has also won championships!!INFORMER wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 6:30 pmThe problem is that Ishbia's "competing for a championship" amounts to spending money and chasing names. Doc Rivers is available, isn’t he?
“Are you crazy?! You think I’m going to go for seven years and try to get there? You enjoy the 2030 draft picks that we have holding? I want to try to see the game today.” — Ish 3/13/25

So I see we’ve reached the point that all trades are bad because of what we think it means for the future…we really down bad.
Re: Suns News: Week 14 (1/20 - 1/26)
Well I definitely don't think it's either/or.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 6:03 pmI don't love the path Ishbia is taking with this roster right now, but I really wouldn't love winning fewer than 30 games and putting all hope into a 19-20 year old every summer that might be really good 4 years later.
I didn't really put much thought into sauce's anti-draft pick rant the other day, mainly because he is irrationally against building through the draft, so I didn't realize how inaccurate his statement was about OKC. After they finally ended the Russell Westbrook era, they only missed the playoffs for three years, and one of those years they finished 40-42. That's actually a pretty impressive turnaround.

I just posted in the Butler thread that I'm mildly and positively surprised by this pick swap trade. The team has proved to be reasonably resourceful in coming up with assets when there are few avenues to do so. I think the general malaise we see on this board, and probably rightfully so, is the fear that the team won't hang on to any of these assets and will just turn them all into used tires and to light them on fire.
Re: Suns News: Week 14 (1/20 - 1/26)
Getting SGA in that PG trade was a major coup
