Yep, O'Neale is the least of our worries. He's in the last half of the roster as far as issues are concerned. Plays better defense than most (not that that's saying a whole lot), at least attempts to rebound the ball, and in addition to threes, he's one of the best on our roster finishing hard driving layups against backpedaling defenses. One of the few who even challenges defenses and takes the ball to the hoop.

Prove me wrong. Anyone that supports Royce is a box score monkey. Dude plays out of his role on offense and is lost on defensive rotations all the time. Not to mention he's another one of the non-fat plain yogurt eating, sugar free vanilla personalities this team has gathered around its mediocre 3 instead of looking for athleticism , smarts and toughness. Dude a one trick flat affect pony who is useless if his 3 ball ain't falling
There is some truth to most of these criticisms. But IMO these are mostly things I can forgive in a role player. He doesn't have a "strong personality" I guess, so he isn't a leader, but I don't need that from every role player. He sometimes gets beaten on defense, though he is strong and capable and generally plays defense to my satisfaction overall. I agree that he doesn't do much on offense other than 3s, but again I'm okay with that since I expected him to be a 3-and-D wing for the most part. He's doing that. Given his role, his salary, expectations, I think he's doing just fine.

The only sentence I don't agree with much is, "Dude plays out of his role on offense and is lost on defensive rotations all the time." I don't think he goes outside of his role much on offense; he mostly camps at the 3-point line as expected. And I don't think he is lost "all the time" on D; our defense is mostly a total mess, so I don't single out Royce in that regard.

I just don't see the point in focusing on Royce as a problem on a team that is full of holes like Swiss cheese. KD deserves more criticism because he's meant to be a leader, to carry our team, to make others better. Tyus Jones deserves criticism since he's our starting PG and is hurting us a ton, in a statistically measurable way, on both ends of the floor. Our bigs deserve more criticism since they're among the worst in the entire NBA. Royce is such a secondary or tertiary concern in all this.
I have said many times that our problems start with the Slim Parasite being unwilling to adapt to any semblance of an offensive system and sacrificing doing the dirty work/intangibles needed from the collective.

Good defenses shut us down easily because the offensive system is give the ball to KD and let him decide when to give the ball back to the rest of the team. That L against Houston where Tyus had 3 straight turnovers doing that was so fucking painful.

Our problems continue that we have lifeless role players surrounded by 3 soft leaders. Of the major role players- Tyus is on a minimum deal so whatever. Grayson is ELITE at the 3 ball and has some on-ball abilities. Royce doesn't do anything great. His shooting is a dime a dozen. He's not tough. He's not smart. He tries to dribble the ball up the court, makes lazy passes. And forget about him finishing around the basket. So yeah, he's on a decent sized contract and he's part of the unscented laundry detergent crew that contributes to the lifeless locker room that is so far gone from our days with the DAWGS

What? No. He is maybe the worst finisher on the team outside of Plumlee.

Royce shoots 71% at the rim and takes about 11% of his shots at the rim. The only guy worse than him this year is Devin Booker, who is last on the team at 64% at the rim. Okogie and Nurkic were worse, but no longer on the team.

PaY aTtEnTiOn 'Bone. He's literally second worst.

But hey let's not let facts get in the way of feelings. Thanks for looking that up Split.

He also shoots 31% from 3-10 feet (worst on the team). 29% from 10-16 ft (2nd worst on the team outside of...Grayson). He fucking blows if it's not a 3 pointer.

Because they're the only two guys on the team who drive the ball to the hoop in traffic.

We will agree to disagree.

Royce does go to the rim more than most our role players. He’s about at the same frequency as Book and KD
