Gerald Gourmet weighs in with some Ishbia tid bits saying some stuff that made me laugh. So the only thing Ishbia took away from all his failures was that he wasn’t involved enough in the decisions. Ugh.According to another source, Ishbia emailed the Suns basketball operations team internally on Wednesday, taking accountability for not doing enough to establish a culture and identity in Phoenix. The Suns owner stated that he tried “running the typical NBA owner playbook” of “hiring experts, signing checks and getting out of the way,” but no one was happy with the outcome.
Now, despite insisting that he is not reviewing film, designing offenses or running the draft room, Ishbia intends to be “extremely active in the decisions and management.” He acknowledged his more unconventional approach as an owner is to ensure the Suns get back to the requisite level of winning that’s been absent the last few years.

'It's not Michigan State Southwest': Tom Izzo defends Suns owner hiring Jordan Ott

“It looks like Michigan State Southwest, but the truth of the matter is, it’s not that,” Izzo said on June 5 in a phone interview with The Arizona Republic.
“He and I talked a lot the last two years, even this past year,” Izzo said. “Owners learn. Coaches learn. GMs learn. I will say this. He didn’t buy the team as a toy like some of these owners do. He’s just got to figure out what it takes to win and I think he’s figured out some of the things he’s done, positively and negatively. He’s got to get some stability. He’s got to figure out his roster and I think you’re going to see Mat more and more visible.”
Ishbia spoke highly of the new coach.
“He’s great, a really smart kid,” Izzo said about the 40-year-old Ott. “Works his ass off. He’s a guy that has enjoyed the process. He’s really a thorough guy. He worked under some good people. I think (Cavs head coach and 2024-25 NBA coach of the year Kenny Atkinson) is one of the best coaches in the league. That will be a big plus with him.”
“He doesn’t want to be an absentee owner,” Izzo said. “He’s done a lot of things. He can take some crap because he got rid of a couple of coaches, I guess. That could be true, could be false. I’m not there on a day-to-day basis to know, but I know this, everybody got a chance and what you do with that chance determines who you are.”
Izzo concluded by saying, “I’m betting on Mat Ishbia.”
Ishbia and Gregory have both stressed the importance of alignment.
Izzo believes hiring Ott strengthens that theme in Phoenix.
“You get everybody on the same page,” Izzo said. “I think that’s one thing that’s been a problem. I think (Ott) is going to do a hell of a job. I really do.”

It's hard to know when "it's over," when an era of your team is behind you. We had the Book/CP3/Mikal/etc. era, that's over now. Then we had the Book/KD era, which is likely over this summer. The next era seems to be the Book rebuild era. I don't think it is going to be a bright and happy time for us as a team or fanbase. It will probably take us several years to get back into a better place. We waited a long time to get the Book/CP3 team, so maybe this is just the cycle starting over.
Re: Suns Hire Jordan Ott as new Head Coach
At least it would be hard to be as bad as the Sarver 10 year malaise years excepting the Bledsoe/Dragic/Miles Plumlee/Gerald Green year. (Who was the fifth starter that year?) That also coincided with the lost phxsuns.net year.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Fri Jun 06, 2025 2:49 pmIt's hard to know when "it's over," when an era of your team is behind you. Weird. I totally forgot the Morris brothers were on that team. But yeah, Frye and Tucker were a big part of it. Just went and looked and Frye and Tucker were full time starters while Green started half the year while Bledsoe was out.Split T wrote: ↑Fri Jun 06, 2025 3:08 pmI think Green mostly came off the bench. Wasn't great? Maybe not, they didn't win it all and just missed the playoffs after winning 48 games but they were very good. PHOENIX SUNS NAME JORDAN OTT HEAD COACH

https://www.nba.com/suns/news/phoenix-s ... head-coach
“After an extensive head coach search, Jordan’s leadership and basketball intellect consistently stood out, combining a brilliant mind as an offensive strategist with the blueprint to employ an aggressive defensive system,” said Suns general manager Brian Gregory. “A strong communicator with a relentless work ethic, he shares our vision of establishing a team identity rooted in toughness, accountability and a systematic approach to the game. Jordan attacks every day with the grit and competitiveness we need in a leader of our culture, and we are excited to welcome him and his family to Phoenix.”
“To be named the head coach of the Phoenix Suns is a dream come true, and it is a privilege to take on the responsibility of leading this team,” said Ott, the 23rd head coach in Suns history. “I would like to thank Mat Ishbia, Brian Gregory and Josh Bartelstein for this incredible opportunity. My goal is to build a culture that across all levels – from coaches to players to support staff – will work hard every single day to put a product on the floor that makes our fans proud.”

Is there any videos of Jordan Ott actually talking? What if he sounds stupid as fuck? Like he has high pitched mickey mouse voice.
