Love, Hurts.
Re: Goran Dragic appreciation Thread
I wonder if the Heat color guy will ever learn to say Dragic's name right. Even Zoran got some burn in the game.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Re: Goran Dragic appreciation Thread
my sentiments exactly. i can almost swallow NY, but please basketball gods, no LA... i would have to reevaluate my entire world view if two straight favorite suns pgs went to the lakers. i would have to check and make sure i haven't done anything really bad in a past life to deserve that.Sunsfan4life wrote:Yea its hard to hate the dragon, even after what he did in the media which was unprofessional IMO.
I think what he did yesterday was wrong and a poor decision on his part and he is kinda admitting that here saying his words came out harsher then he intended.
That being said I have no problem rooting for him in Miami. Its alot easier then rooting for him in NY and GASP LA!

good evaluation...INFORMER wrote:Definitely Lowry. I'd take him over Lillard. Wall's shooting and ball control is too shaky for me. Chris Paul is clearly a superior talent, but I don't believe you can win with him. Conley is more complete than Dragic, but I think Dragic can be more of an assassin on offense than Conley. Irving has taken a huge leap this year, but his defense and playmaking are still questionable.Shabazz wrote:Which one of these players is Dragic better than?SDC wrote:i know this is just one guy's opinion, but to those who only rank dragic as the 9th or 10th best PG...
Westbrook
Curry
Paul
Wall
Lillard
Irving
Lowry
Conley
i think to make a fair comparison we need to first define the premises of such a comparison... are we talking about "if i'm building a team for the next year and i have my selection of any pg, who would i take, the rest of the team a blank roster that will further be filled out based on pg selection" or, say, 5 years, or if the rest of the roster is already in place... it's pretty tough to make these straight up comparisons devoid of context, and a case can be made for many of the players on the list, especially if we look at specific skillsets. dragic was/is among the best at getting to the rim and getting a shot off, for that i've admired him for a few years now.
btw i don't mean to be singling you out inf. just so happens that i clicked on reply when reading your message.
personally i would worry a little about goran's age if i'm building a young team, but if i'm on a veteran team needing a push he would be one of my top choices. he is a great add for miami, except, well, wade's health is shot, and apparently bosh is following suit...

I think depending on Bosh's health, Goran's out of there.
Re: Goran Dragic appreciation Thread
If that happened, frankly, I'd feel bad for ripping them off so egregiously.ShelC wrote:I think depending on Bosh's health, Goran's out of there.

Sarcasm?I'd feel bad for ripping them off so egregiously.
Re: Goran Dragic appreciation Thread
Any chance the Spurs find a way to get a good return on Tony Parker and his 45 million owed over the next 3 years, and bring in Goran? I know they wouldn't pay him 20 a season, but he seems like a great fit there. They only have like 4 guys under contract for next year too.ShelC wrote:I think depending on Bosh's health, Goran's out of there.

Would it make up for unnecessarily losing the Laker pick?OE32 wrote:If that happened, frankly, I'd feel bad for ripping them off so egregiously.ShelC wrote:I think depending on Bosh's health, Goran's out of there.

Not at all. I think we hosed them even if he re-signs.Indy wrote:Sarcasm?I'd feel bad for ripping them off so egregiously.
Hey! Those EPA regulations impose so many costs on businesses! Why yes. Yes they do. But also something something?Mori Chu wrote:Would it make up for unnecessarily losing the Laker pick?OE32 wrote:If that happened, frankly, I'd feel bad for ripping them off so egregiously.ShelC wrote:I think depending on Bosh's health, Goran's out of there.

Which part of the deal makes you so high on it? Danny Granger? Or the heavily protected pick for the next 4 years? Or the pick 6 years from this summer? Not at all. I think we hosed them even if he re-signs.
Re: Goran Dragic appreciation Thread
"Heavily"? You do realize the precious treasure Lakers pick is protected until pick 5, whereas the Heat pick is protected until 7, right?Indy wrote:Which part of the deal makes you so high on it? And to answer your question, the fact that unprotected picks almost never change hands, the general direction I see that franchise moving in, and the fact that Goran Dragic was either going to leave us for nothing or, best case scenario, cost $20 million per year (way more than he's worth).
Re: Goran Dragic appreciation Thread
The Lakers pick just had one more draft of protection. We invested in that pick 4 years ago, and just now were getting ready to cash it in. So instead, we gave that away and then said, let's do that all over again.
And that wasn't a snarky question. I really was interested in knowing what you loved about the trade. I guess it is those picks in 2019 and 2021.

The Lakers pick is protected next year at top 3. Then top 1. Then unprotected.Indy wrote:The Lakers pick just had one more draft of protection. The Heat pick is protected top 7 for two years, the unprotected in 2019.
Thing is, people keep calling Knight a rental. But Dragic was actually a rental, in that he's free to leave at the end of the year. In my eyes, we got lots of something for nothing. So I'm pleased.
Re: Goran Dragic appreciation Thread
Right, very limited protection for Lakers pick vs waiting at least 2 more drafts, likely 4-5 before getting that first pick.
Again, probably not worth discussing since we are so far apart on the issue.

Re: Goran Dragic appreciation Thread
On that last part you added about Dragic walking; I agree that getting something was better than nothing (like we did in the Knight deal).
Re: Goran Dragic appreciation Thread
Well at least you're on a road to redemption. Willing to bet against our re-signing Brandon Knight?Indy wrote:On that last part you added about Dragic walking; I agree that getting something was better than nothing (like we did in the Knight deal).

Well at least there is something about this issue we can agree on!Mind-boggling dissonance from where I sit.
