If Portland stays healthy, they should have the benefit of only playing Melo if he helps them. He helped them last year. If he just plays his role and takes open shots without trying to be ‘09 Melo, he’s fine for them. I think the injury concerns are legit. Nurkic, Collins, Hood all got stuff going on. But
Portland has the best player on the court in most games they play, and will against us. They’ll score a ton of points. The big question will be how much Covington can impact their defense. He’s very good, but is he good enough to make a significant difference. I do think it’s possible Portland is pretty bad defensively.
No, they don't have Booker!

Lillard's favorite player to watch is Booker.

I agree with you, but the gap has gotten smaller. I wouldn't be surprised to see Booker pass him or at least get even in my mind this season.

Lillard has been in his prime, and Booker is just starting. Book is a better player overall and will have a better career. But I don't think there's any question that 28-29 year old Lillard has been better than 22-23 year old Booker.

Lillard has been All-NBA 4 times. Booker has made it to 1 All-Star Game.
Booker isn't better than he is.

It looks like his point is that Lillard is better than Booker

It was a joke. I think it's funny that it's so important for so many folks here to make this point over and over. I would hope for Dame's sake that he's better while he's in his prime and Booker is just on the precipice of it.

Plus, I have a bigger beef with the sentence construction. I'm not better than I am either.

Fair enough, I think people are only making a point of saying lillard is better because it’s being met with resistance.

Booker hasn't been better than Lillard...yet. I think he has the type of game and physical ability to be better than Dame very soon though. Dame had a great bubble, with a lot of points, but his defense was much worse than Devin's was. Dame's size gives him some more limitations to his game than it does for Devin. You could see that in the Lakers series.

He didn’t just have a great bubble, he’s been great for awhile and had a phenomenal season.
30/8/4 on 46/40/89 shooting. Had a .627 TS%. He led the entire nba in offensive WS and Offensive BPM. I’d love for Booker to reach Dame’s level, but he’s not there.

Booker still has to hit some career milestones to get the respect of an elite player on a national scale. If he can shoot a better 3%, average a steal per game and/or hit 90% from the line at the same rate he shoots free throws now, he'll start to move into Lillard's neighborhood of the last few seasons. I don't think we're ever going to see Booker average more than 5-6 assists a game, and that's fine. He and Lillard play different roles for their teams.
However, the Booker and Mitchell debate is still a going strong, and it'll be interesting to see how Booker numbers stack up now that he has coaches and teammates as good as Mitchells' have been for his entire career.

I was being mostly unserious. Dame has had the better career so far. I do like Booker better as a Suns homer, but I wouldn't try to argue that Book should be ranked ahead of Lillard in any serious way. I do think it's possible that eventually Book's career will be more accomplished than Dame's, and even that Book may be considered the better of the two players.

Lillard has had better talent around him, and a better organization.
Booker was performing in a shit-show up to now ...
