I’m still really high on Simmons. Think his fit with Ayton is questionable as some have mentioned. I think Booker/Simmons is one heck of a combo. I might look to flip Ayton at that point for a better fit.
A better fit and one that wouldn't command max contracts. With Simmons and Booker we would have 70M tied up in Booker/Simmons.

Myles Turner? He’s on a 20 million per year deal. But a true stretch 5 would be what we want in that situation.

I don't see the Suns keeping all of Baynes, Saric, Oubre, and a pick. I think they'll cut loose 2 of those 4 things IF they are serious about the bench. 10 mil isn't going to get you much this offseason. Teams are going to overpay for guys in a weak FA class. Probably going to have to wheel and deal somewhere.
- I'd be in on Ben Simmons if the idea was to partially put him at a 4. He's a hell of a defender and play maker just terrible shooter.
- I'd keep my eye on the Pacers and Myles Turner. McMillan just isn't getting the full potential out of him and McMillan just signed an extension so there might me a deal to be made there. I think he'd do nicely next to Ayton.
- FVV doesn't do much for me. The moves that would need to be made to get to 25 mil don't benefit this team. He's a decent guard but you'd have to rock the boat pretty hard to get the cap space.
- Not a big Fournier fan. Don't think he wants to come off the bench. He's going to command more than 10 mil per regardless.
- Montrez Harrell is my ideal target but moves would have to be made to get cap. Ayton, Harrell with Cam and Saric coming off the bench at 4 and 5 would be pretty nice.
Another thing to monitor is that Kelly isn't going to want to com off the bench next season being in a contract year.
James Jones is going to have to get creative this offseason. That or call in all these "favors" he's owed from "friends" in other front offices.

I'd take Simmons but not with Rubio on the roster. I don't think Turner would work as a full time 4 next to Ayton. Fournier is pretty good but like you said, might be too expensive and probably doesn't want a bench role.

I like Ben Simmons, but why play him at the 4? We already have one or two 4s who play good defense and shoot 3s well. Why swap them out for one who shoots very poorly and will command a much higher salary? Given what he makes per year, I have a hard time seeing ways to add Simmons to this team (even if we dumped other contracts) and make the team better. I don't think you want 2-3 starting spots to be such poor shooters.

What do you think of taking Obi Toppin if the Suns move up in the draft, and then moving Oubre to be able to offer FVV if you find out he's interested? Toppin could take Oubre's minutes and offers a lot of what Oubre did with a more traditional bigger body and better passer and possibly better outside shooter.
BTW, I would take FVV while still having Rubio and playing them together or switchable in the starting lineup, whatever works better. Having 2 good PGs is better than just 1.

This, big time.
We get size and athleticism in the front court and the way the league is set up (and which Houston is maxxing out) you can't have too many guards.
Oubre ($14.4m) and Baynes (signed for between $5m and $10m) just about gets it done at $25m for FVV I think.

Toppin is going high though, I'd be surprised if he doesn't go top 7, more like top 5.
Keeping Oubre and Baynes and picking Haliburton seems more realistic, albeit a lot less appealing, though Haliburton is a good chance to go top 7 as well.

If you get Simmons, you need to move Rubio. For on court reasons and salary reasons. If we move up, a top 4 pick, Rubio/Oubre for Simmons might do it.
Simmons would be your transition pg and half court pf. I’d move Ayton for someone like Turner and maybe Holiday if they’d let him go.
You could start Holiday/Booker/Bridges/Simmons/Turner or flip Holiday and Cam Johnson.

Right, when I was thinking of Simmons, I was already counting Rubio out along with one of our front court players.

I’m not trading DA for Turner. No way.

If you have Simmons? Turner is a good 3 pt shooter and is a great defensive anchor. He just makes way more sense than Ayton on a Booker/Simmons team. I also added Aaron Holiday coming our way.
Honestly I’m not sure Indy would go for it. Sabonis/Ayton is not a great pairing.

I'm not too optimistic on what Ayton would bring us in a trade. So many teams are fine at the 5; just doesn't make sense to give up a lot for him.

But Philly ain’t giving him up for Rubio + Oubre + pick. It’s a good deal for us. It wont make them much better.
I wonder what they could get for Simmons.
Would GS move Wiggins + lotto pick?
Would Chicago give up Zach Lavine?
Would Portland offer CJ McCollum?
I don't see a lot of great scenarios out there for Philly.

I could see Portland giving up CJ. That deal would make both teamS better. Simmons could move over to playing more like the 4 that he is. Blazers fans know CJ is their one trade chip to keeping Dame. I bet they could even grab a draft pick off Philly too.

Hmm, I think Portland would be all in on Simmons for CJ.

Fyi, I'm in hardcore Covid quarantine in Australia not even allowed to leave my hotel room. Bored out of my mind and jet lagged like you wouldn't believe coming from UK so sleeping all sorts of weird hours. Is the reason I'm in here quite a lot atm and will likely be for four more days yet.
Have to say it feels weird as hell being a prisoner and its not recommended (but I have a nice hotel room - a suite actually - at government expense, so could be worse .. and the NBA is on free to air TV which is great)

How would you guys feel about targeting Ben Simmons this offseason? Say, Rubio/Oubre/our pick for Simmons?
I worry about his hit with Ayton.
But yes, I would strongly consider that deal. I would want the Sixers' second rounders though.
Of freaking course you would want their second rounders. You’re the kid that liked the cardboard box a toy came in more than the toy itself lmao
This literally made me laugh out loud.
