Here’s my new idea:

Ayton to Houston for Kenyon Martin Jr., #20, and a TPE

Trade 20 for an early 2nd and a future 1st.

Waive and stretch CP3

Sign and Trade for FVV with the TPE and the future 1st.

Sign either Naz Reid or Harrison Barnes to the MLE(sign and trade for the other by sending Shamet/Payne/2nd)

Use BAE for Seth Curry
Saric TPE for Shake Milton
Vet min for Jamychal Green.

FVV/Booker/Barnes/KD/Reid
Curry/Milton/KMJ/Green/Landale

Would need Barnes and Reid to want to come here for the MLE and use that to force Minny or Sacramento to S&T them to us.

I’d take Yuta…finding guys for the vet min will be huge

I’m not sure Barnes will get much more than that. $12M per year seems about right and maybe he makes up for the disappointment in annual salary with some guaranteed years on the back-end of the deal.

I could see Udoka preferring Ayton over Sengun, and I would love to get KJ Martin, but that maneuvering won't be possible the week of the draft. Houston won't be under the cap yet, Ayton would have to approve the trade, and I don't think Houston will want to burn the cap space until Harden has made a decision.

Houston makes a lot of since as an Ayton destination, but a deal probably isn't possible until after free agency begins.

I think once free agency starts, Houston could be a legitimate suitor. They could target FVV as a free agent and use the rest of the space to trade for Ayton.

Probably something along the lines of KJ Martin, Alperen Sengun, Je'Sean Tate,Usman Garuba and a future pick for Ayton. They'd probably try to force KPJ in the deal, but that should be a hard pass for the Suns.

I don't know how Sengun would fare under Vogel though.

I have tons of interest, I just don’t see how we could possibly field any remotely decent squad with Book,KD and Beals salaries taking up the entire cap. Essentially would be tied to minimum deals to fill it out

Isn't the understanding that the salary cap is pretty capped out anyway with Book, KD and DA? If they waive CP3, that at least opens up the MLE, right? If they then stretch him, do they also get the Biannual exception? Might be a question for Cap.

Beal's salary is bad, but it seems like a sunk cost at this point with DA or whoever they trade him for.

I guess I wish I knew more about the current and future salary cap structure.

Kris Dunn is a guy that popped into my mind this morning. He seemed to have matured a bit with Utah last season and his shot is a bit more respectable. I love his size and defense, and I think he has the right mindset to understand his role at this point in his career. I suppose Utah wouldn't be interested in moving off of him, though.

Yep, here is my free agency shopping list at this point:

CORY JOSEPH - Not interested at a salary more than his $5.1M player option. Would rather have someone with more upside at that price.

KEITA BATES-DIOP - Worth a look at the minimum. I worry that he's never contributed to a winning situation, so could be a waste of that salary spot.

JALEN MCDANIELS - I definitely like him, but it might take $8M+/year to sign him which gives me pause because he'd have to be a dependable contributor at that salary.

JOSH RICHARDSON - I love it. I'm sure a lot of teams will as well.

JOE INGLES - I think he's cooked as a starter and very risky to depend on him in the rotation. For a vet minimum, sure. I like his presence and IQ.

THOMAS BRYANT - I don't know what to think. He seems to think way higher of his own abilities than any coach who's had him. DeAndre Jordan got minutes over him in the playoffs. Someone will probably talk themselves into paying him more than I'd like the Suns to.

SHAKE MILTON - Would be a great addition. I'd love him in the 3rd guard role. We'll have to see how the market views him.

JAVONTE GREEN - I have no real opinion of him and wouldn't expect anything. He'd be an Ish end-of-the-bench type of guy when no one else is left at the minimum.

NERLENS NOEL - As a 3rd Center at the minimum? Sure. But why not just hold on to Jock and Biz?

Yuta Watanabe - This would be a sneaky great signing at the right price. I think there's a chance his shooting numbers will lead to a surprisingly high contract offer.

Waiving CP3 would open up the TPMLE…but not the MLE. Need to stretch him to get the MLE, and it would give us both the MLE and BAE.

You could get to the full MLE by cutting some other salary, but you’d need to cut another 4-5 million. Waiving Payne might do it.

I'd like to see the Suns hold onto Darius Bazley, which I don't think will be much of an issue. I can't imagine someone coming in and offering a contract the Suns wouldn't match.

Of the players not mentioned recently...

Naz Reid is definitely the guy I hope could be obtained to replace Ayton.

I'm interested in how much it would take for the Celtics to not match an offer for Grant Williams. He might be a bargain if they don't move off of Jaylen Brown. But I think a lot of teams would like to have Williams.

Trey Lyles and Troy Brown Jr. are two wing/forward shooters that interest me.

Payton Pritchard and Jevon Carter would be solid bench point guards.

What the hell, I've already listed two former Ducks. I really like the energy Eugene Omoruyi plays with, and he has a knack for scoring that could be useful for the end of the bench.

I kinda hate that Dillon Brooks makes some sense for us. I don’t want him(for multiple reasons), but I kinda think we might go after him.

Yeah, I can see it as well. This roster desperately needs an agitator or two. I just personally can't get there with him right now.

I can’t either…don’t trust he’ll play his role. He’ll want to take 15 shots and run offense. Needs to be PJ Tucker
