JJJ gives Booker a true second fiddle. You can’t treat him like a big because of the rebounding, but he is a good offensive player and does provide high level defense. He’s young and you’d have the makings of a great defense with Dunn and JJJ at the forward spots.

Also I haven’t listened to the pod yet, but Russillo apparently hinted at Orlando having intel on what we are getting for KD and that made them comfortable to trade our pick they own.

Not interested in paying JJJ max money when he can't generate his own shot consistently and rebounds worse than Oso. Hes DA with an entirely different set of problems. DAs problem was a lack of heart and toughness. JJJ lacks brains (foul trouble constantly) neither is a max player, at the right contract they're great role player centers

He's also a former DPOY, yeah he sucks major ass at rebounding, but he can get his shot, he's pretty efficient at all levels 38% 3s on 5 a game and can shoot fts well. I think he's a great fit with Booker and with what Ott wants to do.

This is an inaccurate evaluation of JJJ in several ways.

I don’t agree that he can’t create his own shot…but I can understand concerns about maxing him out.

“Former” being the key word. Gobert is a 4-time DPOY (including more recently in fact), and can actually grab a rebound. I would rather have him.

He’s also old and has no offensive skills. I can see the vision with Rudy, but JJJ has a much higher ceiling imo

A former DPOY who finds himself on the bench far too often with 5 fouls

Bontemps says Memphis isn’t trading JJJ, but he also said this:
In speaking with several sources Sunday in the wake of the Bane deal, the universal belief is that any draft packages going to Phoenix in a Durant deal will likely surpass the haul of draft picks coming to Memphis for Bane, who hasn't yet made an All-Star team.
I have no clue what we are getting for Durant anymore.

That would be incredible if true.

Well, that's not the same now, is it? But it would still be incredible if we equalled it.

Better yet, stick in somewhere in the Deandre Ayton thread.

That would equal what we gave up for him.

That would equal what we gave up for him.
Which would be incredible as I was resigned to getting back less than half of what we gave up for him.

Yeah, Barrett or Quickley with Poetl and 9th pick sounds good to me. Would love to get Dick tho.

Barrett is a bit overpaid, but if you’re trying to be decent next year, Booker/Barrett/Poeltl is solid. You add the 9th pick plus Dunn and whatever comes of Grayson/Royce and we should at least be a respectable team that probably makes the play-in.
