Chicago receives: Deandre Ayton

Portland receives: Lonzo Ball

I don't want Vucevic back because I want court time for a young big we sign and I want to bring in Kevin Love. And I think it will hard to move him to another team. This deal is iffy because Portland would have to be comfortable with Ball's medicals, which reportedly don't look good.

Yeah none of this means Kyrie or KD are in Brooklyn during training camp.

If anything, it paves the way for the most logical path to trade Kyrie.

He was never going to opt-out and take the MLE or something ridiculous, and no team would be willing to S&T for him at his requested contract figures.

Well what this means is that Kyrie's plan is to play for Brooklyn this season. Could Brooklyn still trade him? Of course. But Durant still is apparently loyal to him, and there aren't any suitors currently out there. So far now, yes, Durant and Irving are staying where they are.

I think there's a clear buy low opportunity on Duncan Robinson. He's not as bad as he's being portrayed right now and could certainly become a top level 6th man. It makes some sense for the Suns if they want to develop an alternative to extending Cam Johnson.

There is no upside to acquiring Robinson; the best possible outcome is that he finds a way to get his stroke back, and even then, he is just another pricey role player.

So yes, this sounds like a James Jones move.

I didn't mean upside in the traditional draft context; I meant it in just general sense: you're trading for a shooter who is no longer a good shooter and he has a hefty price tag. If he can regain his shooting much, he still doesn't address any of our major needs. So I at least would be left wondering, "what are we doing here"?

But why is Atlanta doing it? Trae hasn’t been very good off ball and DeJounte is not a shooter. They are both great players so they’ll figure something out, just don’t think either will be maximized next to each other.

Apparently Trae and Dejounte are tight and they really want to play together. But yeah, it doesn't make a lot of sense on paper. It's like Ryan McDonough sneaked into the Hawks front office.
