Israel / Palestine
Re: Israel / Palestine
If you want to watch the always interesting Mehdi Hasan go to town on the Israeli military actions in Gaza in a recent debate, here is a thread with some good clips.
Re: Israel / Palestine
Israel has launched a large attack on Beirut, Lebanon. I guess this is more "de-escalation through escalation"?
Re: Israel / Palestine
Should we rename this thread to "Israel vs Palestine, Lebanon, ..."? They're just straight up bombing other countries now.

Iran is poised to launch an attack on Israel in the coming hours, U.S. and Israeli officials said on Tuesday, after Israeli forces launched a rare ground invasion of southern Lebanon targeting the Iranian-backed militia Hezbollah.
The Israeli military said Israel had been informed about preparations for the attack by the U.S. government. A senior White House official said the United States was “actively supporting defensive preparations to defend Israel against this attack,” warning that a direct attack against Israel “will carry severe consequences for Iran.”
The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter, said the scope of the possible Iranian attack was not clear, but could involve a combination of unmanned drones and missiles. The U.S. Embassy in Israel told its employees to return home and be prepared to enter bomb shelters, the first such order in months.

Re: Israel / Palestine
It all makes sense when you realize that Bibi Netanyahu gets to stay in power and out of prison if he keeps war and conflict going.
Re: Israel / Palestine
Popped by to see if it was humanly possible to spin Iran firing 200 ballistic missiles at Israeli civilian targets - a moved condemned by every self-respecting democracy in the world - as Israel's (or conveniently, "Netanyahu's") fault, and sure enough here it is.
Figured I'd add some context to some other posts so people "learning" from this thread at least get an opposing viewpoint.
Re: Israel / Palestine
The 4 images in the first tweet are all of the same explosion. The one that killed Hassan Nasrallah, head of Hezbollah.
Nasrallah and Hezbollah have more blood on their hands than Osama Bin Laden, including likely being responsible for multiple bombings in '83 that killed over 240 US service members and tens of thousand Syrians on behalf of Basha Al-Assad. This is one of the world's worst terrorists. I'm sorry for your loss, Mori.
Regarding Israel's "invasion" and bombing of Lebanon: Since October 8th, 2023, Hezbollah has fired over 10,000 rockets at Israeli civilians and displaced nearly 100K Israeli's from their home, likely at the behest of Iran. Israel, in a 2-week span, nearly wiped out the entire leadership structure of Hezbollah, through the beeper operation (as targeted as taking out terrorists can get) and through aerial strikes. Their objective here is not some sort of land conquest, or invasion. They're looking to dismantle the terrorist group and network of missiles aimed at their civilians. I don't understand how any country would act any differently, other than the fact that most countries would not warn the civilians to evacuate before bombing their targets.
Re: Israel / Palestine
I'd encourage people to watch the entire debate rather than this thread.
This post, from the framing, to the tweet itself, to showing only one side of a "debate" is as intellectually dishonest as it gets.
There exist tweets with the exact opposite message that show all of Eylon Levy's "highlights." Again, people should watch the debate itself.

Last one. The author of this article, "journalist" Abdallah Aljamal. Was found to be holding 4 of the hostages in his family home. Including Noa Argamani, whose proof of life video you shared earlier. Thought it was an interested source.
Re: Israel / Palestine
Hi Shabazz, nice to see you in the thread even if we disagree. I want to clarify that I am not referring to Iran's attack on Israel as Netanyahu's fault. I was referring to Israel's bombing of Beirut. I condemn Iran's attack strongly, just as you do. I think the fact that Iran quickly struck Israel is all the more evidence that there is no such thing as "de-escalation through escalation." Heavily bombing other countries and killing their civilians does not de-escalate a war.Shabazz wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 12:45 pmPopped by to see if it was humanly possible to spin Iran firing 200 ballistic missiles at Israeli civilian targets - a moved condemned by every self-respecting democracy in the world - as Israel's (or conveniently, "Netanyahu's") fault, and sure enough here it is.

Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

The genocide in Gaza will be remembered for a long time.
Re: Israel / Palestine
PBS News Hour does a report on Israel's bombing of Lebanon, which has displaced around 25% of the country's population.

Re: Israel / Palestine
I am starting to think that the end goal in all of this is to manipulate the US to continue supporting Israel. A regional war would force this.
I would rather send Netanyahu to Nuremberg and let the remaining unsullied moderates take over.

Even Fox News has had it.
Re: Israel / Palestine
I found this article, by American Jewish author David Klion, about the state of Israel vs Palestine / Gaza / Lebanon / Iran / etc. to be excellent. Scathing and pulls no punches, both about Netanhayu, the Israeli people who support him, and Americans who enable them.
