Love all those complementary deals you mention.

But you kept the most important piece a mystery. What’s your DA sign and trade.

Don’t say draft picks don’t say draft picks don’t say draft picks
Every scenario I've come up with, a trade goes down moments later that makes it impossible.

Right now I have Ayton going to Chicago.

Phoenix receives: Eric Bledsoe (only $3 million of his salary is guaranteed), Coby Whites, Tony Bradley, and the draft rights to Dalen Terry

Chicago receives: Deandre Ayton

Portland receives: Lonzo Ball

I don't want Vucevic back because I want court time for a young big we sign and I want to bring in Kevin Love. And I think it will hard to move him to another team. This deal is iffy because Portland would have to be comfortable with Ball's medicals, which reportedly don't look good.
Awful. Sorry. Just horrible.

A nickel, a dime and 2 pennies for $1.
I get that reaction. But I want to keep our books clean for 2023 and/or 2024. I don't want to take on big, long-term money because we are going to have to retool around Booker sooner than later. Coby White (shout out to carey) is not someone who liked coming out of UNC, but he has impressed me so far; he gives us a let scoring threat and sorely need guard depth; his second contract should be affordable, I like the chemistry fit with CamJ, and he could be the eventual starter at the 1 or a super sixth man.

Dalen Terry has the tools to be a very valuable 2-way facilitator and would a much-needed infusion of athleticism. Bradley is just a throw in with a little upside, but I wouldn't count on in him becoming anything significant.

This should keep using the NTPMLE in play, which would land another significant young player that helps us now and post-CP3.

This offseason needs to be about the pursuit of a title, not cap clearing and asset collection. This isn’t 2018.

Yeah none of this means Kyrie or KD are in Brooklyn during training camp.

If anything, it paves the way for the most logical path to trade Kyrie.

He was never going to opt-out and take the MLE or something ridiculous, and no team would be willing to S&T for him at his requested contract figures.
Well what this means is that Kyrie's plan is to play for Brooklyn this season. Could Brooklyn still trade him? Of course. But Durant still is apparently loyal to him, and there aren't any suitors currently out there. So far now, yes, Durant and Irving are staying where they are.
Why do you think it means that? He signaled he wanted to be in LA, but clearly nobody wants Russ. That is the only way they would have enough money to trade for Kyrie. And if he didn't opt in today, he would have been giving up 30M dollars this season. Now they have him under contract for the season, and can get 36M back in assets, even if that means a 3-team deal with someone really needing some cap space next summer to take on Russ.

It's not cap clearing; it's about not taking on long-term money that won't help us beyond this season. And Coby White helps now. Not tomorrow. Give me him any day over Payne and Shamet.

I'm not going to ignore the handwriting on the wall; we have to get this team ready to compete at a high level without Chris Paul. But I also wouldn't ignore improving for this coming season. So I am signing Rubio and I'm trading for Kevin Love. But I am also making win now/later moves in signing a young big to the MLE, trade for Coby White, and getting something for tomorrow in Dalen Terry.

Doesn't Love make 30M? How are you trading for him?

Leading up the decision, both sides were operating under a "go find a sign and trade partner"; his agent couldn't find one. So Kyrie opted in with the intention of playing out the season in Brooklyn. Windhorst has even pointed to this. The caveat is that the Nets aren't thrilled with this resolution; they've soured on Kyrie. So if a suitor presents themselves, they're going to look at it. But again, right now, no one is interested.

Crowder/Shamet/Saric.
So here's the team you've built:

Starters: CP/Booker/Mikal/Cam J/MLE Big (Bamba? Boucher? Hartenstein? Last year the MLE big was Daniel Theis)
White/Dalen Terry/Love/Craig/Ish/Biz/Iffe/BAE signing

My friend, that team is getting trucked in the play-in game and I'm not particularly excited about it's future.

Why not just keep Ayton? What leverage does Chicago have to give us such a garbage offer? They want Ayton, the conversation starts with Patrick Williams, Ayo and Caruso and I still don't think that's enough.

I think you're using the same prognostication tools that led to the Warriors and Mavericks to be projected at the bottom of the playoff standings.

In terms of what the regular rotation would look like:

PG: Paul/Rubio
SG: Booker/White
SF: Bridges/CamJ
PF: Love/Wainwright
C: Smith/???

If we can maneuver to avoid being over the tax threshold, we can probably split the MLE. I like Lonnie Walker with the other portion of the MLE.

I really would love it if we could get Isaiah Roby from OKC; I think he is the perfect 4-man for this team.

Out of the rotation would be Dalen Terry, Iffe Lundberg, Tony Bradley. The final three rosters spots I would go shopping for minimum deals among guys like Thomas Bryant, Dewayne Dedmond, Serge Ibaka, Kevin Knox, Eric Psachall, and Thaddeus Young.

EDIT: I'm also open to brining back Biyombo and (depending on health) Kaminsky.

I like some of the guys you names as targets, but that team would absolutely get smoked on defense. Deandre and Jae for Love and Jalen is a massive downgrade on that side of the ball.

I would offer DA for Collins , sign Smith as the backup 5, use the MLE if we can for Patty Mills.

CP3/Rubio
Book/Mills
Bridges/CamJ
Collins/Ish
Love/Stix
