Suns Coach 2018-19

Discussion of the league and of our favorite team.

So who do you want to see as a coach in 2018-19 (and beyond)?

Grass isn't always greener: Triano--What more could you ask with the group of guys we had this year and the development we have seen?

Triano had more head coach experience than fizdale. Fizdale has 101 games of head coach experience..not a lot. He's got a 50-51 career record. More experience than Kokoskov, who only has international head coach experience, but barely. Fizdales 1 season would not be a determining factor to me. The fact he lasted only a season and a quarter is concerning.

If he were so great, why was our team so dreadful? I'm glad he's doing better in Utah, but we already had him here and got a good long look at him and didn't try to keep him as our HC. Why should we do so now?
He was here 5 years, we were only terrible the last one and that's got a lot to do with blanks and babby. He was here when we went to the WCF and lost to the Lakers on that ridiculous Kobe airball.

The Suns Kokoskov era and the Gentry era are the same. We didn't keep him because blanks and babby were idiots and made an absolute mess and McD came in and cleaned house. Don't blame Kokoskov for blanks, babby and Hunter.

I don't think experience is that big of a plus. We just need a talented coach. He needs to be a tactician, creative, open-minded, a good communicator, and work well with the players and management.

I just want to say that I'm sad to lose Bud, but his talking to NY doesn't cast a great light on his decision making. I guess anybody who doesn't mind working for Sarver is also not going to mind working for Dolan.

I hate it that we are one of those teams.

I think with Bud off the table, Igor is our next best choice. I am still REALLY concerned that it won't matter who we hire if Sarver, McD, Jones is in a "win at all costs right now!" mode that fucks up the investment made over the last couple years of sucking so much to get great picks.

I think he has been angling for the Bucks job all along. In fact there were rumors of back channel negotiations before the season ended. He is just trying to make it look like a legit courting process. The Suns and Knicks are props in the illusion.

Could be. He might also grab the Portland job if it becomes available.

I'm sad we lost Bud, but I think it's a bit presumptuous to assume that it didn't work out because Sarver was a doo-doo head to him. What I personally think is most likely is that Bud asked to have input into GM decisions and that we weren't comfortable giving him that. Or perhaps he wanted an exorbitant salary way out of line with what most NBA coaches make. I don't know what was said, but I don't want to just assume that our owner blew it. Maybe it just wasn't a mutually beneficial situation. Who knows what promises and offers the Knicks are making to Bud? As much as I wanted Bud, I didn't want to just hand him the car keys and let him do absolutely whatever he wanted to our roster.

Trust me, the Knicks are not handing over power to Budz. They'll match the money, but Mills and Perry aren't conceding any power. And if McD and Sarver told him he wouldn't have input, after the job McD's done? Still our fault he walked.

Marty, you are one of the few men of your age and education that would have the chutzpah to use the term "doo-doo head" on social media.

A special recognition award to you. ;)
Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...

It's like the FO is trolling us by saying, "Hey, you said we didn't interview anyone last time. Now, we're going to talk to EVERYONE."

If you had to guess, what is the first year salary of our next coach? I would put it as bottom 3 in the league, regardless of who we hire. So I now expect to be disappointed. Again. Fuck.

They're just waiting for Joe Prunty to get bounced in the playoffs to line up an interview.
