Ya we’ve completely whiffed on 4, 4, 8, 10…at 28 if he becomes a useful 8-9 man it’s a hit

I'd say palpable, not so much "a hit". The debate will come from the second round guy(s) who turn into starter quality players. I could see someone like Filipowski or Djursic being a guy everyone looks back on and wonders how they fell to the second round and the Suns drafted a guy with zero offensive impact.

I think I'll be content if he's a Matisse Thybulle clone. Low shot attempts with a floor around .300/.550 and high level POA defense.

Dunn's outside shot doesn't look awful but it's stiff and his touch isn't great. There also may be a balance issue with his stance. Hopefully Bud can get creative moving him around off the ball so he's not just standing around waiting for a kickout. He's also not a face-up dribble drive guy so gotta get him rolling off screens and cutting.

I'd like to see us move up in the 2nd round but doubt it happens. There's still some talent all around that I think could help us.

His ringer comps are Herb Jones and Andre Roberson. Let’s hope he’s the former.

SI.com
Grade: C-

The Suns need bodies in general to throw on the floor with little depth. Dunn will be a mainstay on defense, but his offensive fit is murky, at best.

SI.com
Grade: A-

Dunn is an outlier as a prospect, with ridiculous defensive tools paired with being largely a zero on the offensive end. If there was a perfect situation for him to end up in, it’s probably Phoenix, given the Suns will likely ask little to nothing of him offensively while allowing him to cover up mistakes from what was a middling defensive unit a year ago.

CBSSports
Grade: B

One of the best defensive players in college basketball, he is an explosive athlete who didn't get to show it much because of Virginia's pace. He's also a great cutter who can show it with the Suns' spacing. If he can get to the point where defenses have to show him even a little respect as a shooter, he will be a long-term NBA player. But he's not there at all as a shooter yet.

Yahoo
Grade: B

Dunn was the best perimeter defender in college basketball this season with his length at 6-8, averaging 2.3 blocks and just under two steals per game during his sophomore season at Virginia. The biggest hole in his game is his 3-point shooting where he made only 20% of his attempts from deep this past season.

NBCSports
Grade: A

Phoenix has enough offense, so they got some defense. It’s a good thing that they don’t need help on offense, because Dunn isn’t ready to provide much on that end. However, he’s arguably the best defender in the draft, and it showed in the box score as he came away with a ton of steals and blocks last season. He should play a significant reserve role for the Suns this season and make a big impact on the defensive end. If Mike Budenholzer can find ways to utilize him enough on the offensive end, he has the makings of an elite fantasy player. Dunn is one of my favorite players in the draft, and he should bring smiles to fantasy managers everywhere with his stocks in year one.

The Ringer
Grade A-

The Suns are certainly at a crossroads with this strange three-star build that hinges on the structural integrity of both Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal. Should they stick with their main guys, Phoenix needs stoppers more than anything. That’s what Dunn is. At some point, the prophecy of an anti-positional defensive wrecker upheld by the likes of Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Andre Roberson, and Dominic McGuire will shine. Dunn might be the one to hold the torch. A hyper-athlete with explosive leaping ability, elite recovery speed for his size, and superior instincts, Dunn is the most impactful defender in the class. Just don’t make me talk about the other end. That’s not where his bread is buttered.

The best defender in this class, a player who can lock down multiple positions and get stops anywhere on the floor.

Bleacher Report
Grade: C+

The Suns have an overloaded roster led by Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. They now have a certified stopper to play alongside them in Ryan Dunn. Dunn's defense is the best in this draft class. He has all of the physical tools you want in an all-purpose wing stopper, and his level of engagement is elite. He blankets opponents on the ball and disrupts their actions away from it. All-Defensive honors could be a part of his future. But does he bring enough on offense to stay on the court? He can cut, finish and keep the ball moving, but he could be the kind of shooting liability who shrinks the offensive end. It's not just that he struggles with accuracy (23.5 percent from three, 52.5 percent at the line in college), it's that he often doesn't even look at the basket. Teams will leave him unattended on the perimeter, and he sometimes just accepts that and moves off the ball as quickly as possible.

The Suns clearly think they either have enough scoring or a great enough need for defense (or both?) to make Dunn worth the pick. That's a reasonable gamble to make at this stage of the draft.

Sporting News
Grade: B

The Suns need help on the defensive end and get that in Dunn, who just might be the best perimeter defender in this class. Phoenix is a great landing spot for Dunn, who doesn't have much of an offensive game. Surrounded by Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, he'll be able to lock in on what he does best and take on tough assignments to lighten the workload for his teammates.

NBADraft.Net
Grade B+

Dunn is the best defensive wing in this draft. It's not even close. Dunn excels as both a lock-down one-on-one menace and a team defender. He plays like a future All-NBA Defense mainstay. He's nearly 6-7 with a 7-1 wingspan and could play any wing position and credibly defend anyone outside of Jokic/Embiid/Giannis types. He is a winning player who knows his role and does whatever it takes to win.

Offensively, it's exclusively backcuts, fast-breaks, dunks, and putbacks for the ultra-athletic Dunn. His shooting is a work in progress. That's being generous. Forwards can't post free-throw percentages in the 50s. He takes "non-shooter" to new, unexplored territory. If he miraculously learns to shoot, Dunn could be Herb Jones. If not, his exemplary defense won't be enough to outweigh his team having to play 4-on-5. This is precisely the type of defense-first glue guy the Suns desperately need to fill out their roster.

SBNation
Grade: B

Dunn is an incredible defender who can’t shoot at all. Phoenix has so much shooting in place already with Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal that added an athletic defensive playmaker like Dunn makes some sense. They just need to teach him how to shoot at least a little bit because otherwise opposing defenses will totally ignore him.

Wondering if we traded back after Missi, Da Silva and McCain were taken. Would we have stayed at 22 for those guys? McCain would've been a great value pick. The Suns obviously had good intel that Dunn and Kolek weren't getting taken before 28.

I’d love to somehow snag Pelle Larson. I think he’s an extremely hard worker who turned into quite the player at U of A. I don’t think he’ll make it to 56 unfortunately.

This matches with what Shel reported:

Just read that this is a parody account. NBA players don't take the Wonderlic test and he is not illiterate but it is a joke by Big East fans.
