I'm on board. Can we at least try and develop a young core instead of drafting a young core but playing mediocre vets ahead of them. I can take another bad year if we are playing kids and seeing what they've got.

Other than Durant, basically all of those free agents are supporting players. You don't bring them in at max/big money hoping to revive a lottery team.

on that note is there anyone we can sign as a place holder who still may have some upside. I like Bass but he doesn't fit that bill and makes me shit scared of a starting 5 of chandler bass tucker which makes for ugly offense. Perhaps Powell? Any thoughts on him.
Why not Anthony Bennett, worst case we get a great pick next year

What about trading back for Channing Frye?

Not sure he is any better than Teletovic, but he would make for veteran presence, and a transition player during Bender/Chriss development, as he already got his ring, and would not be pushing for minutes. His contract is not so bad considering the figures already circling the news mill for similar players.

We ask him to do his maximum effort for 20 minutes, and distribute the remaining minutes as the kids earn them.

What's Frye make? $8M? Wasn't it a 5/40 deal? That's less than MLE money right now and I think he has 2 years left. I'd be fine with it. Teletovic is probably the better player right now though, but he's going to get paid like it.

Frye also can slide over to center when Chandler or Len gets hurt, which they will.

I'm calling my free agent shot. Because we haven't been linked to him and McDonough makes signings out of nowhere... I think we sign Luol Deng for 2/30, and we are signing him to play PF.

Bledsoe/Ulis
Knight/Booker/Goodwin
Warren/(Deng)
Deng/Bender/Chris
Len/Chandler/Williams

McDonough made it clear that whomever the Suns target their role will be clearly defined.

“I think we probably will look to sign maybe one veteran guy at the ‘4’ who is probably OK being a starter — everybody is OK being a starter, I guess,” he said, “but comfortable being a starter for the next year or two and then maybe at some point transitioning to a bench role as (Bender and Chriss) emerge and develop because down the road we do view them both as potential starters and hopefully high-level players in the NBA.

The Williams and Aldrich reports are from yesterday, but that nugget about Tucker's contract being picked up for '16-'17 is new.

That was kind of a "no duh." Tucker's salary is $5.3M. That's nothing by current standards.

what do you think it might cost to get Frye back?

We could then have Futurama night with Frye and Bender on the same team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love the avatar Danimal.

I'm praying that I don't have to watch Frye or Dudley play basketball for the Suns ever again though. :)

Nice, the Suns could have a pizza and beer promotional night.

The Suns seem to be doing the right thing -- don't sign anyone, try to get a veteran mentor (Dudley) or sign a cheaper, younger player who might still have some upside (Williams).

Duds is appealing because he makes Tucker a definite trade asset -- a 5 million dollar veteran 3 and D player on a short term contract.

I like the Williams idea -- if he pans out, play him. If he does not, or if the two rookie PFs both develop faster than expected, sit him.
