Frustrating loss after frustrating loss. Refs suck. We don't deserve this kind of bad juju unless it really is just Sarver.
Both teams came out flat, picked it up in the 2nd qtr and we were playing well throughout the game. The Spurs just chipped away like they always do, Aldridge came up big, no one was guarding Lonnie Walker in the 2nd half and Mills hit every shot he looked at. Our guys fought hard with Baynes, Rubio and Kelly hitting big shots late. We're just not 100%. And even tho we're losing most of these past games I don't think we're a bad team at all.
Monty went with Okobo and Tyler Johnson off the bench rather than giving minutes to Jerome. Johnson was awful going 0-5. Okobo gives a spark and can play downhill getting to the basket but wasn't great by any means. Bridges gave nothing on offense and had a bad foul on DeRozan late in the game. Cam Johnson played well I thought but then had that terrible TO on the inbounds that gave the ball back.
Without Book, we have no shot creator. Without Ayton, we have no size, rebounding, interior presence. That was the issue tonight. We've felt the effects of Ayton's ban these past 12-14 games, which was compounded by Rubio and Baynes missing games and now Booker is banged up. Ayton can't be the savior, but he's gotta be ready to go and take on some of the load. Seriously hoping Book isn't out an extended amount of time.
