On some non-Corona news, the Knicks waived Alonzo Trier. Would really like to get him in a Suns uniform. I think the Knicks have mismanaged assets lately. (Slightly more than the Suns)

Yea seeing a lot of Trier talk on Suns Twitter. I'd be all for it, thought we might've had interest at the deadline. We can use that scoring punch off the bench even if he's a bit one dimensional. Knicks always piss away young talent.

I'd be all for Trier getting Okobo's minutes.

I barely remember the season at this point but I feel like bench scoring was an issue when shots weren't falling. You still need someone to break a defense down off the dribble to kick out to shooters or just go 1on1 and knock down a shot.

I’ll definitely take Tried over Carter, Okobo, Jerome right now

Yeah, I think adding Trier is a no-brainer, just have to do their due diligence on his background with Ayton and what went down at Arizona with the PEDs.

Pelicans had played the hardest schedule before the shutdown. They had the easiest remaining schedule before the shutdown. The NBA tried to stick to the remaining schedule as best they could. The conspiracy theorists are dumb and ignoring facts.

Sign Trier asap. Drop Okobo and Jerome if needed. Keep Carter.

They don't have to drop anyone. They have an open roster spot.

I’d be for adding Trier but a) he’s not Orlando-eligible and b) he’s a restricted free agent this summer.

Why is he not eligible? Did they make a rule against players from non bubble teams getting signed? That makes some sense. But he was waived, so the Knicks no longer have his restricted rights. So he’s unrestricted.

I believe that Trier would be eligible for the 8 games, but not for the playoffs and since he is released isn't he a unrestricted FA this summer?

Yeah, Trier isn't a restricted free agent this offseason because he was waived. And even if he was/is, it's not going to take much to sign him.

Sorry. I mistook the “not eligible for the playoffs” cutoff (which passed) for not eligible in Orlando.

And if he’s claimed on waivers do his contract terms not come along with the claim? I was saying he’d be an RFA this summer if we claimed him, not if he passed waivers and we signed him outright.

Correct. So yes, if the Suns claimed him, he would be their restricted free agent.

Spencer Dinwiddie's had COVID, and the symptoms have hampered him enough that he may not join the season. COVID is serious.
