But he doesn't average that on the season. Not a fair comparison.

Over that same stretch, Harden and Kyrie are over 37 mpg. Nobody is saying they need to cut back. Same with DeRozan. And a dozen other guys. It isn't ideal, and I do hope they make a move to shore up the backcourt and big wing positions. I am thinking they will wait for the buyout market, though.
They aren’t 35+ years old. With a history of soft tissue injuries at the end of the season. Apples to oranges, Indiana.
history of soft tissue injuries at the end of the season? 4 years ago he missed 2 playoffs games with a hamstring pull, and last year hurt his shoulder. That's the history you are talking about?

Ya he hasn’t missed a game due to injury since the 2018-19 season…the injury prone talk should be put to rest

CP3 is playing extra minutes because Payne and Shamet are out. They won’t be out forever. They will come back and CP3’s minutes will go back down. All part of an NBA season.

I really think he actually does a helluva job and his arm length + quick jump bothers Book at times

Respect 🙂✌️

I don't mean to be flip or dismissive about CP's minutes. But we have injuries to our two primary backup guards, who aren't even out for a significant amount of time. That's going to affect any team's starters.

I understand the urgency in a championship-or-bust season, but it feels like people are waiting to kill the FO for not making some bold trade.

I do think that Payton has been a bit better lately. Maybe the larger role and bigger minutes with Payne out have given him some more comfort and familiarity with our team and offense. I think I'd just like to see Payton's minutes bump up slightly and give CP3 1-2 more minutes of rest every night. It doesn't take much. Not asking them to sit CP3 out of games or cut him to 25 minutes a night; just a little here and a little there, is all. We have had some rough stretches with Payton leading the team, but that's usually when our whole bench is out there. So play Payton with some other facilitators or scorers like Book or whoever it takes to minimize the negative impact. Just find a way to get CP3 a little bit more rest, is all I want.

I don’t need a bold trade. But it wouldn’t take much to have traded for a capable guard using The end of our bench

Suggestions? The end of our bench guys that are not currently injured: Elfrid, Stix, Biyombo. What do you get for those guys?

The guy worth the most is probably Bizzy, and I think we are actually more likely to keep him than McGee if we moved one of our rotation centers.

It would be kind of dirty to move Biyombo just after recruiting him to sign with us. I don't think we will do that, nor trading McGee given his great play all season.

I'd keep both McGee and Bizzy.

Stix is trade fodder. And Payton, whose value may have improved with his decent play of late.

I agree that there is no way I would trade Bizzy for an end of the bench guard/wing. Same with McGee.

And I just don't think anyone wants Stix or Elfrid unless they want us to take on a bad contract that goes on for a while.

I’m pretty sure Biyombo isn’t tradable.. he signed too late

Look at the trades that have gone down.

Saric, Stix, Payne/Payton and some draft picks are more than enough to get something done.

Eric Gordon is obtainable for sure.

I wouldn’t have minded going after NAW or Satoransky either as I think just about anyone is better than Payton. Or put a call into Washington for Dinwiddie. Call Brooklyn and see if theyre open to anything for Patty Mills.

Eric Gordon could be this team's version of 2004-05 Jimmy Jackson.

I think the Suns are looking at buyouts, not trades. Pointless to look at what teams have done on the trade front vs what we've not done. That's not an area that makes much sense for us.

I feel it would be irresponsible to not move Saric/Smith. Smith especially. We also need to move players to clear roster spots if we want to add buyout guys…otherwise we’re just waiving players.

Saric isn't expiring so most teams aren't going to want to add 10M in salary and take up a roster spot for a guy that can't play.

I agree with Smith. It is stupid to keep him on the roster unless you think he can be a part of your 8-9 man roster in the playoffs. He is expiring and you have no control over his contract (you are actually more limited than other teams on it). Like just get a 2nd round pick for him that might never convey. But free up that spot.

Ya Saric is trickier, so I think there’s some leeway there if we can’t move him. But it would be irresponsible to not try. Even if it’s just for a player with a similar contract next year. We’re getting zero value out of his roster spot and salary.

the other team wouldn't either. so it seems like we would need to give more assets than he is worth.
